Chaparral (Calif.) QB Dane Weber breaks school record with eight TDs in one game

Attention will soon turn fully toward the 2027 cycle and there’s once again a slew of impressive quarterback prospects that will take center stage. Out in California, Temecula Chaparral signal-caller Dane Weber continues to make a name for himself.
The 6-foot, 215-pounder has put together a big season, but in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs on Friday, he had a record-breaking performance that propelled the Pumas to the second round.
Weber completed 24 of 31 pass attempts for 360 yards and five touchdowns. On the feet, he rushed for 106 yards and three more scores on 10 carries. The eight touchdowns broke a school record for the most in a single game as Chaparral beat Chaminade 63-42.
Now through 11 games as a junior, Weber has thrown for 3,500 yards and 40 touchdowns to nine interceptions, per MaxPreps. He’s also rushed for 13 scores, carrying a Chaparral team that’s now 7-4 on the year.
The Pumas, ranked No. 24 in the Golden State by the Massey Ratings, will now take on Leuzinger this Friday, Nov. 14, for a spot in the semifinals. The Massey Ratings predict a 42-31 win for Chaparral.

Weber is the No. 365 overall prospect and No. 28 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 36 junior in California.
At the end of October, Rivals’ Adam Gorney gave the latest intel on Weber’s recruitment, which has been primarily a Big 12 battle early on. Rivals ranks Weber higher than other recruiting services, as he checks in as the No. 19 QB in the 2027 Rivals300.
“Two of the important factors when it comes time for me to commit will be my relationships with the coaching staff and the area of the university,” Weber told Rivals’ Chad Simmons this spring. “My comfort at a school, as both a player and a student, matters too. I also want to be at a place where I feel like I put myself in the best position to achieve my goals.”
