The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has made a decision on eight Millikan High School football players on Monday and that they will be unavailable moving forward for the Rams.

According to a report by Southern California News Group’s Fred J. Robledo, eight Rams’ players have been declared ineligible by the CIF, with each athlete being hit with two-year bans and not allowed to play until the 2027-2028 season.

A Long Beach Unified School District spokesperson released the following statement:

Millikan High School acknowledges the recent CIF ruling regarding athletic eligibility within its football program. We take this matter seriously and regret the impact it has had on our students, families, and community. The school has complied with CIF directives, including the forfeiture of games, and we are conducting a review of the transfer procedures at our site and within the Moore League to ensure compliance moving forward. While student and employee matters are confidential, our commitment remains to support our students while upholding the integrity of our athletic programs.

Millikan was forced to forfeit two games against Foothill and Newbury Park to start the season due to an ineligible player and the Rams currently sit at 0-4. The Rams are slated to take the field again on Sep. 26 at home against Wilson.

The CIF Southern Section has taken a tougher stance towards player transfers this 2025-26 season, with the most notable case being when they association announced that 19 football players at Bishop Montgomery (Calif.) have been declared athletically ineligible for two years. An investigation by the CIF determined the players violated league bylaws upon transferring to the Knights to play football.
