Class of 2026 OL Charles Humphrey enrolls at Anderson County (TN) pending approval of transfer

Offensive lineman Charles Humphrey will be on the move again for his final high school football season. As Knoxville News Sentinel’s Allexus Killian originally reported, the three-star tackle enrolled at Anderson County. It will be his third high school after playing for Bearden last season and the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering before that.
However, while the Mississippi State commit enrolled in a new school, his high school football eligibility is still pending due to the one-time transfer rule passed by the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association last March.
Under this rule, Tennessee high school athletes can have one free transfer without losing eligibility. However, they can have another free transfer for academic, disciplinary, environmental, mental, and socio-emotional reasons.
Still, as in Charles Humphrey’s case, the TSSAA must process transfer forms for fall sports participants next month. The governing body for Tennessee high school football will review his case and inform him of their decision before official practices start. This way, Humphrey can return to Bearden if he’s ineligible to transfer.

However, Anderson County will file an eligibility request once the TSSAA process Humphrey’s transfer form, hoping to improve his chances of playing for the Mavericks. Last season, the 6-foot-7 lineman helped Bearden finish with a 9-4 record. The Bulldogs reached the Tennessee high school football Division 1 Class 6A state quarterfinals but lost to Maryville.
Meanwhile, if granted to transfer, Charles Humphrey will join a team that had a 12-2-1 record last year. They had a 7-7 tie with Science Hill in the second game of 2024 and went 11-2 since. Sadly, their second loss came in the Division 1 Class 4A state semifinals against eventual champions Macon County.
Humphrey has an 85.80 On3 Industry Ranking, making him Tennessee’s 32nd best prospect from the Class of 2026.
