Colorado high school football team removed from playoffs due to ineligible player

It seems like right at the end of the season, teams are being found in violations of using ineligible players and another case of that reared its ugly head on Tuesday evening. This time, it was a Colorado high school football squad.
According to a report by the Daily Camera, Longmont (CO) has been removed from the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) Class 4A playoffs due use of an ineligible player, which they deemed “an accidental administrative oversight” and “not an intentional act”. Taking their place, per the report, will be Skyline instead as the 24th team.
The report states that a letter was sent out from Longmont principal Jeff McMurry and athletic director Pete Scheck to parents detailing how the team self-reported the use of an ineligible player, which was a CHSAA violation and forcing them out of the postseason.
“We met with our players (Tuesday) afternoon at 2:30 p.m. to share this news directly with them. We know how devastating this is for every member of our team, especially our seniors who have worked so hard and dreamed of this postseason opportunity. For that, we are truly sorry,” the letter said to Longmont parents, per the Daily Camera report.
CHSAA officials sent a text statement to the Daily Camera regarding the incident involving the Trojans and their removal from the CHSAA’s Class 4A playoffs.

“Longmont High was deemed ineligible to take the 24th seed playoff spot due to an unintentional administrative oversight that resulted in a self-reported rules violation. Skyline High School, the next eligible team in the seeding data, will assume Longmont’s place in the postseason bracket and will travel to No. 9 Northfield as the No. 24 seed.”
Longmont will now finish the Colorado high school football season at 3-7, which one of their victories on the season was a 55-33 defeat of Skyline back on Oct. 17.
