Little Flower Catholic, a Pennsylvania girls basketball team based in South Philadelphia, needed a sponsor for their program. Enter Philadelphia Eagles rookie linebacker Jalyx Hunt, who visited the school to affirm his support for the struggling squad.

Hunt said in an interview with NBC 10 Philadelphia, “It’s amazing. It’s always in my blood to give back. That’s how I was raised and just the community and the environment I grew up in. So, any chance I can find or get to give back. I reach out to the community and try to take it.”

In addition to his support, Hunt presented Little Flower Catholic with his Eagles jersey. In return, the girls basketball squad gifted him with apparel bearing the school’s name and logo. While the exact details of Hunt’s sponsorship remain unknown, Spotrac revealed that he signed a four-year, $5.63 million rookie contract.

The Eagles selected Jalyx Hunt in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. After transferring from Cornell, the 2023 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year played college football for Houston Christian.

Before joining the Eagles, he was also a Second-Team Football Championship Subdivision All-American and First-Team All-SLC member. As of Week 15 in the 2024 NFL season, the former Dutch Fork and University Titans standout has 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 13 games.

Meanwhile, Little Flower Catholic hopes that Hunt’s sponsorship could help them improve their performance in Pennsylvania girls basketball. They’ve never had a winning record since 2006 and had four coaches take over the program.

Worst yet, they finished with an 0-18 overall record in 2018 under coach Maureen Butcher. Last season, Little Flower Catholic went 6-16 with a 0-11 record in the Philadelphia Catholic Conference.

However, the Jalyx Hunt-sponsored team is showing promise in the current Pennsylvania girls’ basketball season. Under head coach Jesse Morgan, they are 5-1, with victories over Dobbins Randolph, West Philadelphia, Nueva Esperanza, Franklin Town, and Thomas Edison.
