The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) went ahead with the idea of a 16-team invitational tournament on the high school football end on things for the Rural classification in 2024.

Now, the FHSAA is ready all of its classifications to implement the same invite-only tourney for the 2025 high school football postseason.

According to an email obtained by Rivals and sent out by the FHSAA’s Coordinator of Athletics Robbie Lindeman, the association will be starting two separate 16-team FIT tournaments for 1A-3A, 4A-7A beginning this 2025 postseason.

The FIT tournament will culminate with the two championship games to be played at The Villages on Dec. 5-6. The FHSAA clarified via Naples Daily News Alex Martin that it would only be two additional tournaments and not one for each classification.

Last year saw the first ever FIT championship game played between Fort Meade and Dixie County, with the Miners coming away with the 21-13 victory.

The qualifications for making the two additional tournaments are the next 16 highest ranked teams in each class after the qualifiers for the 32-team brackets will participate in the FIT. Here is the schedule for the FHSAA postseason in the following:
