Final Florida High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Dec. 14
The 2025 Florida high school football just ended with one of the most wild, exciting conclusions to Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championships this past weekend at Pitbull Stadium in Miami.
The undefeated IMG Academy Ascenders finishes the 2025 season as Florida’s No. 1 team, with Class 3A champ Jacksonville Raines and Class 5A champion St. Thomas Aquinas following the Ascenders No. 2 through 3, respectively. After state championship results, which clubs were able to crack the last set of Top 25 Florida high school football rankings.
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the last Florida high school football Top 25 rankings of the 2025 season, according to Massey as of Dec. 14.
1. IMG Academy Ascenders (9-0)
IMG Academy (9-0) season will end with just nine games after the Ascenders announced on Friday that they would not be rescheduling their matchup against St. Frances Academy.
The Ascenders have leaned on the play of Louisville commit Le’Khy Thompkins, who rushed for nearly 200 yards and scored two touchdowns in a win over East St. Louis (Ill.) recently. When it comes to playing bully ball up front, no other Florida high school program in the state knows how to do that any better than IMG Academy, under the guidance of former Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa.
Only question left for the Ascenders is will their nine wins be enough to crown them as the country’s No. 1 team? Regardless, it was enough to make IMG Academy the No. 1 team in Florida high school football.
2. Raines Vikings (14-0)
The unbeaten Raines Vikings (14-0) found redemption after last season’s 41-0 loss to No. 2 Miami Northwestern in the 2024 Class 3A state championship and they beat the Bulls in thrilling fashion, 23-22.
For Raines, its their fourth state championship in program history.
The Vikings have dominated the competition they have faced so far this season, with impressive wins coming against Lake Mary and Madison County, respectively. Raines has been absolutely dominant through their playoff run as they have out-scored the competition 186-29 through four games previous to the Class 3A state championship.
Senior quarterback Timothy Cole had himself another superb season behind center, throwing for 2,650 yards, 39 touchdowns and just three mere interceptions. Cole has also added over 450 yards rushing on the ground, establishing himself as one of Northeast Florida’s top dual-threat signal callers.
3. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (14-1)
St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (14-1) finishes out the season as the state’s No. 3 team after they rolled to a 29-0 win over their adversaries, the Lakeland Dreadnaughts, for the Class 5A state championship.
The Raiders for the second straight season blanked the Dreadnaughts after doing last year, 34-0.
Three-star quarterback Mason Mallory, who transferred from West Boca Raton during the offseason, displayed what he could do as the Raiders’ dual-threat behind center. Mallory finished the season throwing for 2,318 yards and 23 touchdowns this fall.
When it comes to dominance in the Sunshine State on the high school football level, head coach Roger Harriott led this group to a unprecedented seventh straight state title and there’s no reason to not believe they can’t win No. 8 in a row in 2026.
4. Miami Northwestern (14-1)
Miami Northwestern (14-1) had their chances to come away with the Class 3A state championship against Jacksonville Raines this past Friday night, but a number of miscues led to the Vikings winning their fourth ever title.

For the Bulls, it was a season that had looked like it might end the same way it did last year and that’s with Northwestern running away with the 3A crown. Instead, they stumbled at the finish line en route to what was a surprising result to many around the state.
With rumors swirling around the program about this upcoming off-season, the question has to be asked: Does this state championship loss open the door for current Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to return as the program’s head coach? Only time will tell.
5. Chaminade-Madonna Prep Lions (12-3)
Chaminade-Madonna Prep (12-3) ended its season in such a fashion they hadn’t done since 2020 and that’s be on the losing end of a state championship game.
The Lions ended the season with a 17-14 loss to Cardinal Newman this past Thursday afternoon for the 1A title. It was a season that saw some in-season turmoil as Chaminade-Madonna parted ways with their longtime offensive coordinator, but was still able to make a run back to states.
It was there that Chaminade-Madonna wasn’t able to notch a fifth consecutive state crown as they met their match against a Cardinal Newman bunch that captured the program’s first. There’s a lot of questions marks surrounding the team heading into the off-season, but the Lions do have a great building block in freshman quarterback Malik Leonard.
