Final Maryland High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Dec. 9
The 2025 Maryland high school football season draws to a close with the crowning of new and defending state champions. With one marquee game left in its schedule, here’s how Massey ranked the top 25 squads from Little America.
The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
1. St. Frances Academy Panthers
While their game against IMG Academy was cancelled, the Panthers will be playing against Utah’s Corner Canyon in the first-ever Overtime Nationals championship game on December 10 at 7 p.m. ET. The winner of which will be recognized as high school football’s national champion. St. Frances Academy will carry their 8-1 record to this game. They are in high spirits, considering they’ve only allowed seven points in their last six matches.
2. DeMatha Catholic Stags
Whether it’s a low scoring game or a shootout, the Stags stamped its dominance this season. In addition to completing a perfect schedule, they won the WCAC Capital championship by defeating Gonzaga. Likewise, they swept the Eagles and St. John’s College Cadets in their last four games. With their season over, DeMatha Catholic will part ways with graduating players S Darrell Carey (Maryland), IOL Zion Smith (UNC), WR Lavar Keys (Indiana), WR Joshua Parker (Coastal Carolina), and EDGE Jordan Stevens (Coastal Carolina).
3. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers
In addition to winning the MIAA Class A championship, the Cavaliers finished the season with a 10-2 record. After losing two of their first three games, Archbishop Spalding went on a nine-game winning streak to claim the throne. However, in defending their crown next year, they must do it without graduating players CB Sean Johnson (Maryland), IOL Quinn Purnell, WR Aaron Igwebe, and OT Kyle Lucas.
4. Good Counsel Falcons
The Falcons finished the season at 6-5 despite starting their campaign with three consecutive victories. Good Counsel will say goodbye to graduating players DL David Jackson (UNC), OT Karon Spencer (Temple), TE Rowen Walsh (Delaware).
5. Linganore Lancers
The Lancers entered the top five after defeating Oakdale for the MPSSAA Class 3A state championship. Linganore established a 35-17 halftime lead and never looked back. This victory closes their season with a perfect 13-0 record.
