The 2025 Tennessee high school football season comes to a close with the crowning of its state champions. Hence, the final rankings for this year feature new champions or powerhouse squads. Here’s how Massey placed Tennessee’s top 25 as the offseason begins.

The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

1. Baylor School Red Raiders

The Red Raiders triumphantly ended the 2025 Tennessee high school football season by defeating Brentwood Academy for the Division II Class AAA state championship. Keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter helped them complete the perfect schedule. Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges finished with 151 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Briggs Cherry threw for 158 yards and three TDs.

After their 12-0 season, Baylor School will part ways with graduating players Georges (Ohio State), Cherry (Louisville), OT Gabriel Osenda (Tennessee), CB Jamyan Theodore (Tennessee), OT Charles Edgeworth, S Kolby Barrett (Mississippi State), DL Jayden Arenas-Michel (Middle Tennessee State), WR Kaiden Dewey, and IOL Xavier Wade.

2. Oakland Patriots

The Patriots earned their 15th victory this year after dominating Ravenwood, 62-21, in the Division I Class 6A state championship game. The Raptors had no answers for running back Craig Tutt, who finished with 230 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Oakland defense finished with five tackles for losses, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and an interception.

With their perfect season and their championship secured, Tutt (Ole Miss), S Joel Wyatt (Tennessee), and S Justis Haggard (Middle Tennessee State) are college football-bound.

3. McCallie School Blue Tornados

The Blue Tornados’ season ended with a loss to Baylor School in the Division II Class AAA state semifinals. Despite the defeat, Elliott Drapeau had a solid game, finishing with 395 passing yards and three touchdowns. Keeyshawn Tabuteau corralled 227 receiving yards and a TD. The McCallie School defense also generated six sacks, two courtesy of Cooper Gentle.

The Tornados’ 2025 Tennessee high school football season ended with a 10-3 record. Next year, McCallie won’t have college-bound players Tabuteau (Wisconsin), IOL Moussa Seck, OT Daniel Cepicky (Kennesaw State), and LB Gabe Abercrombie.

4. Brentwood Academy Eagles

The Eagles came up one victory short of the state championship, losing to Baylor School. Despite that setback, Larry Sanders II dominated with 215 rushing yards and three touchdowns. After this 11-1 campaign, Brentwood Academy will part ways with graduating players Easton Jointer (Maryland), DL Bennett Spillman, and K Tommy Bauchiero.

5. Battle Ground Academy Wildcats

Earlier this season, the Wildcats dropped a 21-14 decision against Franklin Road Academy. However, when it mattered most, they avenged that loss by delivering a fantastic beatdown. Battle Ground Academy won the Tennessee high school football Division II Class AA state championship after a 61-27 domination of the Panthers.

Kaedyn Marable had a field day against Franklin Road with 384 passing yards, 61 rushing yards, and seven touchdowns (four passing). Max Curry (176 receiving yards, three touchdowns) and Maddox Porter (152 yards, one TD) benefitted from Marable’s big day. Meanwhile, Elijah Fernandez and Evan Kellum each had two sacks for the Wildcats.

In addition to a 12-1 record, winning the state championship is the perfect ending for the high school football careers of Fernandez (Memphis), Marable (Columbia), and DL Nate Fleming (Vanderbilt).
