How to Watch Cardinal Mooney vs. The Bolles School in Florida 2A state championship game

Cardinal Mooney Players to Watch
Cardinal Mooney isn’t too far removed from the last time they won a state championship as they claimed the Class 1S title back in 2023. There are players that played on that very team and are looking to add a second ring, but to do so they’ll need to get by a very good Bolles’ squad. The Cougars lone loss of the season came against Cherry Creek, which won Colorado’s Class 6A state championship last week.
DL Elijah Golden: The Notre Dame signee is the key disruptor for the Cardinal Mooney defense as the defensive lineman heads up the front seven. Golden this season has made 67 tackles, 34 for a loss and 14 sacks.
WR Kymistrii Young: When Cardinal Mooney wants to take to the air, they call Young’s number. The North Carolina signee this season has caught 42 passes for 936 yards and scored eight touchdowns.
EDGE Bryce Fulda: Another defensive lineman Bolles will have to keep tabs on throughout tonight is that of the Western Kentucky signee. Fulda has compiled 59 tackles, 32 for a loss and 13 sacks.
RB Connail Jackson: The Cougars make no bones about it, they want to run the football early and often. All of that starts with Jackson out of the backfield as the running back has rushed for 2,253 yards on 190 touches and scored 35 times.
The Bolles School Players to Watch
Other than the one loss on the season to St. Augustine, The Bolles School has been as good as they come out of Florida’s South Suncoast region. The Bulldogs have been on a hiatus when it comes to winning state championships, with the last time the program raised the trophy being in 2011 when they won the 4A crown. Now with a very well rounded team on both sides of the ball, we take a look at the players to watch for.

WR Naeem Burroughs: The Clemson signee has been the top wide receiving threat for the Bulldogs all season long and could be a problem for the Cougars’ secondary. Burroughs has caught 48 passes for 1,151 yards and scored 12 times.
DL Asher Ghioto: Good luck trying to block one of the country’s top sophomore defensive lineman as Ghioto has proven on a weekly basis that there’s not many that can slow him down. Ghioto this season has racked up 79 total tackles, 35 for a loss and 23 sacks.
RB Xander Edwards: We’d be silly to continue moving down this list of names without mentioning the sophomore sensation out of the backfield. The running back has rushed for 2,532 yards on 245 touches and scored 44 touchdowns.
S Simeon Caldwell: The Ohio State signee will be expected to make sure the back end of the defense is airtight as Cardinal Mooney will take shots deep against the Bolles’ secondary. Caldwell has made 99 tackles and picked off two passes this season.
