Week 2 of the Florida high school football season had a little bit of everything from bad weather to blowouts and upset victories. From nationally ranked teams continue to visit the Sunshine State this week and the third slate of games could prove to be the best when it comes to instate matchups. Let’s take a look at five games that standout this coming Friday.

No. 4 Chaminade-Madonna at No. 3 American Heritage

When: Friday, Sep. 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Heritage Field, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The first of what will be many South Florida powerhouses clashing is when the Lions make the short trip over to face the Patriots. Chaminade-Madonna picked up their first win of the season last week when they upended McArthur, 28-14. American Heritage enjoyed a bye week off after their thrilling Week 1 win over St. Joseph’s Prep School (Pa.) at the Broward County Classic. Folks on hand are sure to see plenty from a pair of Texas commits in Chaminade’s Derrek Cooper and American Heritage’s Dia Bell on the dais.

Massey Prediction: American Heritage 33, Chaminde-Madonna 28

Bergen Catholic (N.J.) at West Boca Raton

When: Friday, Sep. 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: West Boca Raton Community High School Stadium, Boca Raton, Fla.

West Boca Raton gets its chance to show what they can do on a national stage when they welcome nationally ranked Bergen Catholic of New Jersey into town. The defending Florida Class 6A state champions started off their season last week with a 50-7 dismantling of Palm Beach Central as a warmup before taking on the Crusaders, who edged out East St. Louis (Ill.) 22-21 at the Battle at the Beach Classic. Miami commit Javian Mallory made his regular season return for the Bulls last week and rushed for 119 yards on just eight carries.

Massey Prediction: Bergen Catholic 35, West Boca Raton 7

No. 13 Armwood at No. 12 Tampa Bay Tech

When: Friday, Sep. 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Titan Stadium, Tampa, Fla.

It should be no surprise to anyone that Armwood and Tampa Bay Tech are among the state’s best and now the two Hillsborough County powers clash in what will be the area’s Game of the Year. Tampa Bay Tech made a statement in Week 1 when they walloped defending Class 7A state champion Venice in a 29-7 decision. Armwood has played two solid area foes in Gaither and Sumner, coming away victorious in both. Since the two programs started playing each other annually dating back to 2015, Tampa Bay Tech leads the series 6-5.

Massey Prediction: Tampa Bay Tech 28, Armwood 25

No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas at No. 19 Columbus

When: Friday, Sep. 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Tropical Park, Miami, Fla.

Another showdown between South Florida powers is when the Raiders make the short commute down to Dade County to face the Explorers, who are coming off a 14-7 loss to Good Counsel (Md.) on the road. St. Thomas Aquinas dropped their opener at the Broward County Classic against Mater Dei (Calif.), but then bounced back with a 70-6 thrashing of Boyd Anderson. When you bring two very well coached South Florida teams and plenty of talent on both sides together, it bodes well for being one of the top games in the state.

Massey Prediction: St. Thomas Aquinas 35, Columbus 19

No. 23 Jesuit at Valdosta (Ga.)

When: Friday, Sep. 5 at 8 p.m. ET
Where: Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, Valdosta, Ga.

Jesuit takes their undefeated act on the road up into South Georgia when they take on the Valdosta Wildcats, the country’s most winningest high school football program at 967 victories. The Tigers hosted the Wildcats last year and lost in Tampa, with the former looking to exact a little bit of payback in the 229. Florida commit Will Griffin has been strong behind center for Jesuit, completing 29 of 49 passes for 443 yards and five touchdowns. Expect this to a back and forth game between two teams that are evenly matched.

Massey Prediction: Valdosta 40, Jesuit 22
