Florida State 4-star QB commit Tramell Jones updates status after injury

Tramell Jones, one of the top high school football players in the state of Florida, will miss time this season due to injury, he announced on Tuesday.
Jones, who has starred at Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin over the past two years, left the team’s game Friday night on a cart after an apparent leg injury.
On Tuesday, Jones tweeted that he had suffered a “minor setback” but would continue to support the team as they made another run at a state championship. It’s uncertain whether he will be able to return this season.
“I would like to thank everyone for reaching out and having me in your prayers and concerned about my well being,” he posted. “This is a minor setback and I will be back very soon. I will continue to be active and supporting my Mandarin Mustang family as they make another state run, I have no doubt they have enough to get the job done. I will also, still be actively recruiting for Florida State University. I’m committed to my goals I have set forth over the past years. Failure is not an option when you have your mind set for greatness.”
The 6-foot, 195-pounder has been committed to Florida State since April 2023, when he chose the ‘Noles over Florida, UCF, Miami, Georgia Tech and others.

Despite overtures from other programs, he officially shut down his recruitment in late June and has been a vocal recruiter for Mike Norvell and Co.
Jones, a top prospect in Florida, was a standout at Elite 11 Finals
A three-year starter for the Mustangs beginning as a freshman, Jones has thrown for more than 6,700 yards and 70 touchdowns during his high school career. That includes leading Mandarin to an 11-4 record and the Sunshine State’s 4M championship game
Jones was also one of 20 quarterback in the country to earn an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles in June. He finished No. 9 overall in the event, per On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. Jones was also awarded the superlative of ‘Smoothest Release’.
“Tramell Jones showcased one of the tightest releases at the Elite 11 Finals,” Power wrote. “The Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin signal-caller has a clean stroke and got the ball out of his hand as quickly as any quarterback in attendance. Jones was a Top Performer on each day. His skill set as a mechanically sound pocket passer is well suited for the setting. He was precise on each day, concluding by being on target on 15 of 18 passes for three touchdowns and two interceptions in 7-on-7 on Thursday.”
