Florida High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Nov. 16

The 2025 Florida high school football is officially in the midst of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoffs as the region quarterfinals began last week.
The undefeated IMG Academy Ascenders remain Florida’s No. 1 team, with St. Thomas Aquinas, Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Northwestern, Armwood following the Ascenders No. 2 through 5, respectively. Which teams were able to crack the latest set of Top 25 Florida high school football rankings before the FHSAA regional semifinals begin?
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest Florida high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 16.
1. IMG Academy Ascenders (9-0)
IMG Academy (9-0) season will end with just nine games after the Ascenders announced on Friday that they would not be rescheduling their matchup against St. Frances Academy.
The Ascenders have leaned on the play of Louisville commit Le’Khy Thompkins, who rushed for nearly 200 yards and scored two touchdowns in a win over East St. Louis (Ill.) recently. When it comes to playing bully ball up front, no other Florida high school program in the state knows how to do that any better than IMG Academy, under the guidance of former Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa.
Only question left for the Ascenders is will their nine wins be enough to crown them as the country’s No. 1 team?
2. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (10-1)
St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders remain in the second spot after rolling to a 58-7 win over Palm Bay Heritage in last week’s Class 5A, Region 4 quarterfinal. There’s little reason to not believe that the Raiders will roll through the playoffs and right back into the 5A state title game.
Three-star quarterback Mason Mallory, who transferred from West Boca Raton during the offseason, has displayed what he could do as the Raiders’ dual-threat behind center. Mallory has so far thrown for 1,436 yards and 15 touchdowns this fall.
When it comes to dominance in the Sunshine State on the high school football level, head coach Roger Harriott has this group prepared to win a unprecedented seventh straight state title.
3. Chaminade-Madonna Prep Lions (9-2)
Chaminade-Madonna Prep (9-2) winning streak of eight straight games since losing the regular season opener to nationally ranked St. Frances Academy of Baltimore came to an end when they lost to No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas, 27-21, in the finale.
For the Lions, despite the loss, their eyes are set on winning another Class 1A state title come December at Pitbull Stadium as they began the postseason last week with a 63-0 win over Saint John Paul II Academy in a 1A, Region 4 quarterfinal. This week could get interesting against a talented Edison in the region semifinals.
Four-star Derrek Cooper (Texas commit) is as good as they come for running backs, with the senior rushing for 963 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns. The offense is more than just Cooper alone, however. Also putting up some strong numbers right behind Cooper is junior tailback Arwin Jackson, who has rushed for 639 yards and six scores.
A bright spot is the youth movement at quarterback for the Lions as 14-year old Malik Leonard, who has thrown for 2,279 yards and 27 touchdowns this fall.
4. Miami Northwestern (11-0)
Miami Northwestern (11-0) are the favorites to repeat as Florida’s Class 3A state champions this fall as they opened up their title defense with a 70-0 thrashing of Somerset Academy Charter.

Despite the departure of coach Teddy Bridgewater, the Bulls have remained one of Florida’s top tier programs under interim HC Jaquatin Victrum. When looking at this team, there’s a very real possibility of repeating as Class 3A state champions. Neimann Lawrence, a sophomore four-star quarterback, has been superb behind center for the Bulls during their undefeated run through the season.
Miami Northwestern will head into the Class 3A, Region 4 semifinals against Key West at Traz Powell Stadium this Friday night.
5. Armwood Hawks (11-0)
The Hawks of Seffner completed the feat of going 10-0 in their regular season finale win over Riverview, 49-7. Armwood are serious contenders to upend West Boca Raton in Class 6A this fall with the way they’re playing heading into the Florida high school football playoffs.
There’s plenty of reasons to like this undefeated Armwood (11-0) team, including senior three-star quarterback Rhys Brush, who is committed to USF. The Hawks have only given up one touchdown in the last six games, which has included five shutout victories after last week’s 43-0 playoff win over Melbourne.
Looking deeper at this Armwood roster and head coach Evan Davis has a slew of Power Four recruits littered all over the defense, including in the secondary with cornerbacks Jaelen Waters (Miami commit), Larry Warren (UNLV commit) and safeties D’Montae Tims (Colorado commit), Kallen Martinez (UConn commit).
Armwood continues the postseason with a Class 6A, Region 2 semifinal versus Viera.
