Florida High School Football: West Boca Raton beats West Broward in 6A title repeat
MIAMI, Fla.- The West Boca Raton Bulls (Fla.) won their first high school football state championship on the backs of their defense last year.
This time around, they did so with a combination of their defense, with timely offense sprinkled in.
For the second straight season, West Boca Raton dominated and defeated West Broward, 31-0, on Friday afternoon for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 6A state championship at Pitbull Stadium.
The Bulls even to get to this point needed a touchdown in last week’s state semifinals in the final seconds in a thrilling 14-13 win over Armwood. This time around, West Boca Raton wouldn’t need any late game theatrics in order to win the game.
West Boca Raton (13-2) didn’t get on the scoreboard until the second quarter when Miami signee Javian Mallory (117 yards rushing) scored on a 50-yard run to go up 7-0. It wouldn’t be too long later when the Bulls would add to their advantage as Damari Jerry forcing a fumble and safety Tray Mitchell returning it 43 yards to push the West Boca Raton lead to 14-0.

Tristen Lamb would tag on a 37-yard field goal right before halftime after a the Bulls took advantage of a defensive holding call that extended their drive. The call was made on what appeared to be a forced fumble by West Broward, which would’ve given the Bobcats advantageous field position and a chance to score.
The domination would continue in the second half as the Bulls’ defense clamped down on multiple scoring threats by the Bobcats, shutting them down one-by-one. Mallory added his second touchdown of the afternoon via a 6-yard scamper to push the West Boca Raton lead to 31-0 in the fourth quarter.
