The Bolles School, a private Florida high school, announced that their baseball field will be named in honor of legendary player Chipper Jones. This development is part of Jones’ gift of renovating his alma mater’s baseball field, a project that would cost $3.7 million.

In a press release, Jones said about this project, “The heart and soul of Bolles Baseball will reside at this stadium where lifelong friendships will continue to form, and teams grow stronger together. I will always appreciate my coaches, teammates and teachers for their many contributions to our success.”

The release also states, “The stadium improvements will also include an upper-level terrace with dual towers and a traditional architectural design that pays homage to historic Bolles Hall. Planning for the facility began in 2021, coupled with a ceremonial groundbreaking last December. Thomas May Construction, the assigned general contractor, began work shortly after and remains focused on a committed timeline before the start of the 2026 season.”

Chipper Jones attended Bolles after spending his freshman high school year at Taylor. He was a two-sport player for the Bulldogs, leading the team to a state championship in his junior season. A year later, he won the Gatorade Florida Baseball Player of the Year, thanks to his .488 batting average and 7-3 pitching record with a 1.00 ERA.

While he accepted the scholarship to play for the University of Miami, Jones joined the Atlanta Braves as the first overall pick in the 1990 Major League Baseball draft. He played for three seasons in the minor leagues before making his major league debut in 1993.

Chipper Jones played his entire MLB career with the Braves. However, he skipped the strike-shortened 1994 season because of his ACL injury. Jones retired after the 2012 MLB season as a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, a one-time batting champion, a one-time National League Most Valuable Player, and a 1995 World Series champion.

The Braves retired Chipper Jones’ No. 10 jersey. He is a member of the Braves Hall of Fame and became a National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee in 2018 after getting 97.2 percent of the ballot.
