Georgia High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Sept. 21

After a lightning-quick first five full weeks of high school football, we’ve reached the official midway point of the regular season in Georgia.
The majority of teams in the Peach State have completed five games, though a few have been hampered by weather-related issues that caused postponements or cancellations. But with everyone on a largely level playing field, we can take another look at the state’s top 25 teams.
Powerhouse Grayson remains atop the list, trailed slightly by Buford and Carrollton — who have been equally impressive.
1. Grayson Rams (5-0)
The undefeated Rams remain atop the rankings after a 51-0 domination of Grovetown on Friday night. Grayson jumped out to a 35-0 lead at the halftime break and never relented. Quarterback Deuce Smith threw for four touchdowns, and the Rams’ defense continues to assert its will, allowing fewer than 13 points for the third time this season.
2. Buford Wolves (5-0)
Following a tough-fought 34-26 win over Douglas County at home last weekend, Buford was back on its own turf Friday night. Facing an overmatched and winless Discovery squad, they coasted to a 71-7 blowout win. Quarterback Dayton Raiola threw a touchdown in the first 45 seconds, and the rout was on. Buford scored eight unanswered touchdowns in the final three quarters to account for the huge final margin.
3. Carrollton Trojans (6-0)
Birmingham (Ala.) Parker‘s 14-game winning streak dating back to last season is no more. The Thundering Herd’s last defeat came last season to Carrollton as well, but the Trojans poured it on Friday night in a 43-7 dismantling. Cam Wood and Peyton Zachary each accounted for two touchdowns apiece, while the Trojans’ defense didn’t allow a point in the second half.
4. Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets (5-0)
After running into very little resistance across its first five games, Thomas County Central had the weekend off while the rest of the state player their fourth and fifth games of the years. But now the Yellow Jackets will get one of their toughest tests yet as No. 19 Lee County comes to town this weekend. TCC is still favored to win by more than three touchdowns though, according to the Massey Ratings.

5. Creekside Seminoles (5-0)
The Seminoles weren’t even ranked inside the preseason top-25, but now sit as the No. 5 team in the state heading into Week 6. Creekside has been absolutely dominant through five games. They routed Texas powerhouse DeSoto a few weeks ago, and their closet game otherwise was a 20-point victory over No. 21 Rome. This weekend, they rolled 56-0 over a winless Mays squad.
