The Georgia high school football team Milton Eagles were among the nation’s best teams last season. In addition to winning the Class 5A state championship, they went undefeated in 15 games and limited seven opponents to seven points or less.

These results made them the fourth best team in the nation based on the On3 Composite Football Team Rankings. Meanwhile, High School Football America declared Milton as the best public school football program. The Eagles took the top spot against other public high school football powerhouses like Venice, North Crowley, and Duncanville.

To celebrate that achievement, Milton offensive coordinator Stevie Jackson and quarterback Luke Nickel happily showed their championship rings. It contains the words ‘National Champions’ and the shape of the Georgia map.

Likewise, the championships are a fitting end to Nickel’s high school football career before joining the Miami Hurricanes. He was the 12th best quarterback prospect from the Class of 2025 with an On3 Industry Rating of 92.54.

The four-star QB finished his senior season with 3,743 passing yards, 300 rushing yards, and 50 touchdowns (44 passing). He also completed 67.9 percent of his passes and threw only seven interceptions in 308 attempts. Nickel helped Milton win their third state championship by finishing with 21 completions for 413 yards and four touchdowns against Langston Hughes.

It was a dominating campaign for the best Georgia high school football team last season. They had three shutout victories last year and won by an average margin of nearly 30 points per game.

Furthermore, there were only two games that Milton won by single digits. They opened the season with a 13-10 win over fourth-ranked Buford and defeated Florida’s American Heritage by nine points (37-28) a week later.

Conversely, they defeated Alpharetta by scoring a season-high 58 points, Johns Creek by 56, and Chattahoochee by 47. Before surrendering 35 points to Langston Hughes in the state title game, Milton limited their first three playoff opponents (Woodstock, Dutchtown, Houston County) to 24 combined points.
