As part of their Helmet Give Back Program, the Green Bay Packers gave new helmets to ten Wisconsin high school football schools. Packers Football Outreach Manager Ryan Fenci said that they’re giving out top-rated VICIS helmets, which would be a massive help for these programs.

According to a report by News 8000’s Sam Shilts, the Packers will gift Oshkosh North, Shiocton, Shorewood-Messmer, Milwaukee Obama, Madison La Follette, Appleton West, Regis, Ladysmith, Flambeau, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy with $7,500 worth of new helmets each.

These recipients were among the 120 coaches and athletic directors who pitched their cause. Likewise, the helmets are part of the $13 million Packers Give Back project.

For three of those schools (Oshkosh North, Shiocton, Winnebago Lutheran), the four-time Super Bowl champions needed help from former NFL cornerback Jarrett Bush to reveal the surprise.

Winnebago Lutheran head coach Kevin Loehr announced that the team received 18 helmets from the Green Bay Packers. Last season, the Vikings finished with a 6-5 record, and they have been better on the road (4-2) than at home (2-2). However, their season ended with a 35-0 shutout loss to Lake County Lutheran in the Wisconsin high school football Division 5 second round.

Meanwhile, like Winnebago Lutheran, Oshkosh North had a better record on the road than at home. However, after starting their campaign at 6-2, they lost their last two games against Notre Dame Academy and West De Pere. The defeat at the hands of the Phantoms occurred in the first round of the Wisconsin high school football Division 2 state playoffs.

Shiocton had a 4-7 record but won two of their last three games. However, the eventual Division 7 state champions, the Edgar Wildcats, defeated them in the second round of the playoffs.

This initiative by the Green Bay Packers follows a similar project by the Denver Broncos, in which they provided helmets to every Colorado high school football program.
