There was a brief period when the Mililani Trojans were the kings of the Hawaii high school football Division 1. In 2014, they defeated Punahou for the state championship. Two years later, the Rod York-coached crew repeated as champions with a 31-20 victory over Iolani.

Since then, they haven’t won the state crown, even after transferring to the Open Division. They had runner-up finishes in 2018, which they lost to Saint Louis, and in 2023, which they dropped to Kahuku. Last year, the Trojans were in contention for the state title and had home-field advantage against Kahuku in the state semifinals. However, Mililani still fell short via an 8-6 decision to the eventual state champions.

This year, the Trojans are looking for their third state championship. In doing so, they must exorcise the ghosts of past failures and complete the job. However, before reaching the state tournament, they must excel in their first eight games, which they’ve shared on their Instagram account.

Mililani will only have three home games in the 2025 Hawaii high school football regular season. Their first home game will be on September 6 against Saint Louis, Hawaii’s third-best team, based on the Massey Ratings as of June 28. On September 13, the Trojans will play host to Farrington, Hawaii’s No. 9 team.

Meanwhile, the Trojans will start the season with back-to-back road games against Nevada-based teams Arbor View (August 22) and Coronado (August 29). Mililani will also have road games against Campbell (September 27), Leilehua (October 4), and Kahuku (October 10). Finally, Mililani will close the 2025 Hawaii high school football regular season versus Kapolei on October 18.

Here’s the sequence of games for Mililani’s 2025 season.
