High School Football: How to watch No. 10 Bergen Catholic (N.J.) vs. West Boca Raton (Fla.)

Florida hasn’t exactly fared all too well against teams outside of the Sunshine State the first couple of weeks. 11-27 to be exact when compiling the overall record against out-of-state opponents and now West Boca Raton will welcome into Palm Beach County the No. 10 Bergen Catholic Crusaders in the Adidas Classic tonight in a game that has national implications. It’s the Garden State versus the Sunshine State. Who comes out on top?
Crusaders to Watch
There’s little doubt when it comes to if Bergen Catholic is New Jersey’s best team as they’re once again loaded on both sides of the ball. What remains to be seen, however, is who exactly may be at the controls of the Crusaders’ offense. There’s a chance Bergen Catholic could be rolling out freshman Walker Snee, who is the grandson of former NFL head coach Tom Coughlin.
EDGE Jackson Vaughn: The sophomore defensive end proved in last week’s win why he’s a player to watch anytime he takes the field for the Crusaders. Vaughn tallied three sacks in a 22-21 win over East St. Louis.
QB Trey Tagliaferri: Tagliaferri came away with the starting quarterback job for Bergen Catholic and looked solid in last week’s win at Battle at the Beach, throwing for 154 yards and a touchdown.
RB Najee Calhoun: Calhoun spent the first two seasons of his high school football career at Donovan Catholic and now will be the likely featured back at Bergen Catholic. The 5-foot-10 running back rushed for 47 yards and scored a touchdown against East St. Louis last week.
DL Jermaine Kinsler: Pairing with Vaughn on the defensive line, Kinsler heads up a stout Bergen Catholic front seven after a strong junior campaign. The four-star defensive lineman has already committed to Texas A&M and will need to be a factor in stopping West Boca Raton’s ground game.
Bulls to Watch
West Boca Raton has been on the ascension upwards when it comes to becoming nationally relevant and tonight, they’ll have their chance against the No. 10 ranked team in the country to make a statement. The Bulls are loaded with Power 4 talent, especially on defense, where head coach Dylan Potts will look for the unit to create some turnovers and give West Boca Raton extra opportunities on offense.
RB Javian Mallory: The Miami commitment made his impact felt in last week’s 50-7 win over Palm Beach central, with the running back rushing for 119 yards on just a mere eight carries.

QB Trey Moran: Now in his second season in the offense for the Bulls, the junior quarterback has the experience under his belt after helping West Boca Raton win a state title. Moran will need to make some throws in this contest.
DL Jamar Thompson: There’s no underscoring how important Thompson is on the defensive line for the Bulls in tonight’s contest. Up against a run-oriented Bergen Catholic team, Thompson will need to beat double teams and create havoc up on the line of scrimmage.
CB Jaydin Broadnax: If the Crusaders decide to take it to the air, they’ll have to do it against one of the best secondaries in South Florida. The Louisville commit holds down one of the cornerback spots and will certainly be a player to watch for out of West Boca Raton’s secondary.
