One of the top high school football games in the country is down in the Big Easy at the Caesars Superdome when the No. 21 ranked American Heritage Patriots (1-1) travel to face the No. 25 Edna Karr Cougars. With the Patriots coming off a loss to Chaminade-Madonna last week, can they turn it around against one of the top defensive units in the Southeast?

Patriots to Watch

American Heritage is one of three teams from the Sunshine State that is ranked inside the national Top 25 rankings and the Patriots get another chance to prove themselves against Louisiana’s defending Division I-Select state champion Edna Karr Cougars.

RB Jonathan Bueno: Bueno has been a mainstay in American Heritage’s season opening win as the running back rushed for 94 yards and scored three touchdowns.

WR Jamar Denson: Of the star-studded wide receiving corps for American Heritage, its Denson who has been Mr. Reliable thus far this season. Through the first two games of the season, Denson has hauled in 20 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns.

WR Jeffar Jean-Noel: The Georgia Tech commit has been the second option behind Denson on offense, with Jean-Noel catching 11 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

LB Dylan Bennett: Anchoring the front seven of the Patriots’ defense is the senior linebacker, who currently leads the team with 17 total tackles and four them going for a loss.

Cougars to Watch

The Cougars are coming off playing their first game of the season, soundly defeating Archbishop Shaw, 35-0. Now Edna Karr heads into their arguably toughest game of the season when they welcome American Heritage into town from Florida.

DT Richard Anderson: The 6-foot-3, 350-pound defensive tackle is a behemoth smack dab in the middle of the Cougars’ defense. Anderson is committed to LSU.

S Aiden Hall: Hall is another LSU commitment that leads one of the best secondaries in the country. Has the ability to play at safety or more in the box at the nickel position as well.

CB Hayward Howard Jr.: Continuing in the secondary is another defensive back in Howard Jr., who is already committed to the Texas Longhorns. Howard Jr. joins Hall in patrolling the Cougars’ back end.

CB Maurice Williams: Rounding out the defensive backfield is the Colorado commitment. Williams brings plenty of speed and physicality out at cornerback for Edna Karr.
