The teams in the Indiana On3 Massey Ratings top 25 list as of Oct. 30 have wrapped up the regular season and are gearing up for the state playoffs. Here’s how the best teams in Indiana high school football fared before the postseason started.

The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory. According to the model, three teams from Indiana rank in the top 100 nationwide.

1. Brownsburg

After eight straight victories, the Bulldogs lost their final regular season game against Hamilton Southeastern. That loss gave Brownsburg an 8-1 record entering the Indiana Class 6A State Tournament. Indiana’s top-ranked offense will visit Avon for the first phase of the playoffs on Nov. 1.

2. Westfield

The Shamrocks finished the regular season with three consecutive victories, including their 44-7 domination of Franklin Central. Carsen Melvin threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns, while Deacon King had 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Westfield proceeds to the Indiana high school football Class 6A tournament and will host Harrison on Nov. 1.

3. Lawrence North

The Wildcats completed a perfect regular season by defeating 18th-ranked Pike 24-14. Izayveon Moore led the way with 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Tanner Aspeslet completed a touchdown pass to Davion Chandler. Lawrence North’s defense also deserves credit, as they completed 25 tackles for losses and nine sacks against the Red Devils. Lawrence North will face Lawrence Central in the first phase of the Class 6A state tournament.

4. Warren Central

The Warriors surrendered double-digit points in only three of their nine games this season. The third instance occurred in their 34-28 victory over Cathedral, in which Marcus Bell Jr. had three rushing touchdowns. On defense, Bell contributed two sacks and four solo tackles. The Warriors will proceed to the opening round of the Class 6A state tournament against Indianapolis Arsenal Technical on Nov. 1.

5. Center Grove

The Trojans need to gain momentum coming into the state tournament. They have lost three consecutive games, including their regular season finale against Maryland’s St. Frances Academy. Center Grove scored only one touchdown against the Panthers, a trend they don’t want to happen during their Class 6A state tournament showdown with Jeffersonville on Nov. 1.

6. Cathedral

The Fighting Irish’s four-game winning streak ended after they lost to Warren Central 34-28. Despite that loss, they finished the regular season at 5-3 and ranked third in the Indiana high school football offensive rankings. Cathedral will commence the Class 6A state tournament by hosting North Central on Nov. 1.

7. Hamilton Southeastern

The Royals ended the regular season by pulling off an upset victory over top-ranked Brownsburg at home. That outcome gives them three victories in their last four games, a significant momentum as they head into the Class 6A state tournament against Homestead. Hamilton Southeastern will need their fourth-ranked defense to clamp down on the Spartans to earn a road playoff win.

8. Crown Point

The Bulldogs completed a perfect regular season via a 35-8 victory over Michigan City. That scoreline marks the sixth time they’ve limited an opponent to single digits. Meanwhile, they’ve never allowed an opponent to score more than 20 points. That’s a benchmark Crown Point will try to attain as they face Portage when the Class 6A state tournament commences on Nov. 1.

9. New Palestine

The Dragons are undefeated as they proceed to the Indiana high school football Class 6A state tournament. After a 21-21 tie against Decatur Central on Aug. 30, they’ve won eight consecutive games, including a 28-14 victory over Mount Vernon. Jacob Davis led the way against the Marauders, finishing with two passing and two rushing touchdowns. New Palestine will visit Yorktown in the first round of the playoffs.

10. Ben Davis

The Giants finished the regular season with a three-game winning streak, including their 44-14 defeat of North Central. Could they be peaking at the right time because they defeated 22nd-ranked Carmel on the road and 13th-ranked Lawrence Central at home? If they’re in a groove heading into the Class 6A state tournament, the Pike Red Devils could be in trouble during their Nov. 1 showdown.
