Indiana High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Sep. 1

The Hoosier State has gotten rolling when it comes to high school football and don’t think Indiana folks only care about their basketball. They love high school football as well and we roll out our Indiana High School Football Top 25 Rankings, with Brownsburg debuting at No. 1.
Who else makes the cut for the list?
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here are the top 25 Indiana high school football teams, according to Massey.
1. Brownsburg Bulldogs
The Brownsburg Bulldogs (2-0) have started off this 2025 Indiana high school football campaign in dominant fashion as they’ve knocked off Maryland’s Archbishop Spalding and Cathedral.
Both victories have been impressive, with the opener setting the tone that this is a viable nationally ranked team in the country. Brownsburg has received stellar play on both sides of the ball, including from quarterback Oscar Fyre, who has thrown for 533 yards and five touchdowns this fall. Wide receiver Branden Sharpe has been Fyre’s favorite target, totaling 394 yards and four scores.
This week the Brownsburg is back at home to face Franklin Central.
2. Center Grove Trojans
Making the case for the second spot in the Indiana Top 25 rankings this week is Center Grove, which is off and running at 2-0.
Center Grove features a slew of Division I prospects on the team, including tight end Dominick Barry (Wake Forest commit), quarterback Oscar Sloan, offensive lineman CJ Scifres (Indiana commit) and defensive stalwart Kobe Cherry (Purdue commit). Running back Nolan Rees has powered the offense with his 288 yards and four touchdowns this season.
The Trojans take on Marion this week ahead of a state showdown versus Ben Davis on Sep. 12.
3. Carmel Greyhounds
Carmel early on is showing the Indiana high school football world that they will have little issues when it comes to finding the endzone as they’re averaging 41.5 points per game through two weeks.
What has been more impressive is the way they are doing it as the Greyhounds are leaning heavily on their ground attack, led by running backs Andrew Pemberton (207 yards) and Ayden Johnson (134 yards). Troy commitment Anthony Coellner has totaled 537 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns through two games.
The Greyhounds this week will take on Centerville (0-3) on Friday night.
4. Westfield Shamrocks
In what might’ve been surprising to some around the state, Westfield was shellacked by Carmel (see above) last week, 34-10. With the loss, it keeps the Shamrocks steady within the Top 5.
Looking to bounce back this week, Westfield will need to rely on its offensive front to control the line of scrimmage as they feature a pair of Division I recruits in 6-foot-6, 260-pound Malachi Mills (Kansas commit) and 6-foot-2, 280-pound Job Maverick (Ohio commit).
The Shamrocks continue on the road this week as they take on Zionsville (1-1) Friday night.
5. Cathedral Fighting Irish
It has been a bumpy start to the season for Cathedral as they just narrowly beat out No. 17 Ben Davis, 8-0, and then were shut out by top ranked Brownsburg, 29-0.

Finding offense has been the difficulty for the team as they’ll need players like junior running back Xavier Dangerfield (115 yards rushing) to get going as the season chugs along. Things don’t get too much easier this week and as the campaign progresses in 2025.
The Fighting Irish look to get back on track this week at home when they take on Ohio’s No. 2 ranked St. Xavier.
