Iowa high school football program cancels remaining 2025 schedule after one game

Just one game into the Iowa high school football season was enough for a program this 2025 campaign.
According to a KCCI 8 report, the Siouxland Community Christian School 8-man football program has canceled the rest of their 2025 season after playing two quarters and having to forfeit the rest of their first game.
Per the report, Siouxland Christian School was playing Coon Rapids-Bayard and the former went up 60-0 by halftime, with the latter forfeiting the rest of the game. The Eagles were coming off a tough 2024 season where they went 1-8 and were out-scored 478-160.
Since starting 8-man play back in 2021, Siouxland Christian has compiled an overall record of 5-31, with its best season coming in 2022 when the Eagles went 3-5.

“Siouxland Christian School announces the cancellation of its varsity football season, effective immediately. This decision follows the first game of the season, which was halted at halftime due to player safety concerns. The health and well-being of our student-athletes remain our highest priority, leading us to conclude that canceling the season is the most responsible course of action. We commend the dedication, hard work, and resilience of our student-athletes, who have shown tremendous commitment to the team. We are grateful for the support of our community and are focused on strengthening our football program for future success,” Siouxland Superintendent Nic Scandrett said in a statement regarding Siouxland Christian School’s cancelation of the rest of their 2025 season.
Also noted in the KCCI report was that Siouxland Christian isn’t the first Iowa high school football 8-man team to cancel their 2025 season. Lone Tree Lions has canceled their season due to a lack of participation numbers, with reportedly 10 players showing up to the team’s first practice.
