Kansas High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Sept. 24

There are some changes at the top of the latest Kansas high school football rankings. While St. Thomas Aquinas is still number one, Andale moves to number two, while Manhattan completes the top three. Here are the state’s best teams, according to Massey.
The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, the strength of their schedule, and the margin of victory.
1. St. Thomas Aquinas Saints
St. Thomas Aquinas’ winning streak now stands at 21 games after their 42-21 victory against Blue Valley. The reigning Kansas high school football Class 5A state champions can claim a 4-0 record for the 2025 season if they defeat Blue Valley Southwest on September 26.
2. Andale Indians
The Indians are at 3-0 after a 53-13 victory over Rose Hill. The defending Class 3A state champions have won 16 consecutive games and Andale can keep the streak going against Wichita Collegiate School on September 26.
3. Manhattan Indians
While they scored only ten points against Hays, it was enough to keep the Indians undefeated through three games. Kansas Jayhawks commit James Dunnigan Jr. scored Manhattan’s lone touchdown via an 87-yard punt return, while Prescott Balderson added an extra point and a field goal to cover the Indians’ production. Dunnigan also blocked a field goal that helped preserve the victory. It’s a tough win for Kansas’ third-best team, and they’ll hope to do better on September 26 against Junction City.
4. Mill Valley Jaguars
After losing to Lee’s Summit North, the Jaguars rediscovered their winning ways against Shawnee Mission East. Mill Valley defeated the Lancers on the ground, led by Max Piva’s 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Blake Jay had 97 yards and five rushing TDs. Anthony Clem added 45 receiving yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, the Jaguars’ defense generated five sacks and 53 total tackles. Mill Valley continues the 2025 Kansas high school football season against Lawrence on the 26th.
5. St. James Academy Thunder
After coming up short against St. Thomas Aquinas, the Thunder bounced back by defeating Blue Valley Northwest 21-7. Jake House dominated the Huskies defense with 218 rushing yards and a touchdown, while John Hornback and Preston Canzoneri connected on two touchdown passes. On defense, Gavin Puchalla led the way with nine tackles and an interception. St. James Academy can start a winning streak by defeating Blue Valley on the 26th.
6. Hays Indians
The Indians suffered their first loss this year after scoring a season-low eight points against Manhattan. Despite the defeat, their 2-1 start is better than their record from the first three games of 2024. Hays can get back on the right track with a win against Garden City on the 26th.
