Trinity Shamrocks quarterback Zane Johnson (3) throws a pass in the first half of a high school football game between the Moeller Crusaders and Trinity Shamrocks, Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at Mount St. Joseph University’s Schueler Field in Cincinnati. Shamrocks are up 14-3 by halftime.

The 2025 Kentucky high school football season is here heading into the ninth week and there’s little movement in the latest set of Top 25 rankings.

The Trinity Shamrocks bounced back after a loss with a 35-3 win over Ballard to remain Kentucky’s No. 1 team. Following right behind the Shamrocks are Christian Academy of Louisville and South Warren coming in a 2-3. St. Xavier makes their return to inside of the Top 5 after an impressive win last week.

Who else makes the cut in this week’s set of Kentucky high school football rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Kentucky high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 13.

1. Trinity Shamrocks

The Trinity Shamrocks (6-2) have shrugged off the 17-14 loss to St. Xavier of Ohio with a 35-3 beatdown of Ballard last week.

The Shamrocks will aim for rare three-peat in 2025, which they have opened the season with some dominant performances, including a 63-0 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park and a 37-0 blowout of Frederick Douglass.

They will need players like quarterback Zane Johnson, running back Jamaurion Berry and wide receiver Sekou Kamara to fuel what is one of Kentucky’s most potent offenses. If Trinity can pull off a win this week against St. Xavier (Ohio), there’s a strong chance they could win out the rest of the way.

Trinity finishes out the regular season with games against Eastern and Oldham County, respectively.

2. Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions

Christian Academy of Louisville (7-0) have made it look too easy in the last two weeks, out-scoring
De Sales
and Central by a combined score of 111-14.

The Centurions started the season off winning three straight blowout victories, including wins over Lexington Christian Academy and Owensboro, respectively. They added also impressive victories in with a 34-27 decision over Ryle and a 55-6 rout of Central Hardin.

Christian Academy of Louisville has been one of the more dominant teams in the state as they feature a loaded roster, led by four-star sophomore defensive lineman Kellan Hall. The Centurions also have talents like senior defensive back Stone Perkins (Ball State commit) and linebacker Chapman Russell on defense.

The Centurions return to the friendly confines of home when they take on winless Western High School Early College (0-6).

3. South Warren Spartans

The meeting between South Warren and Meade County last week was one of two programs going in totally different directions as the Spartans handed the Greenwave a 55-3 loss.

When it comes to playmakers on the offensive end making things happen for the Spartans, quarterback Camden Page and running back Kayden York have been the two main contributors thus far. Page has thrown for 1,390 yards and 14 touchdowns and York has totaled 529 and 11 scores on the ground.

South Warren is coming off a bye week and take on winless Central Hardin (0-7) this Friday night.

4. Boyle County Rebels

The Rebels (5-1) are steadily moving along through his season as they just picked up their fourth consecutive win when they routed Russell County, 43-0.

Boyle County aims to make it five consecutive victories when they face off against a solid Lincoln County (6-1) group this week. The Rebels have been able to win three clutch games when decided by 11 or less points this season.

Regaining the Class 4A state title will be Boyle County’s foremost goal this year. The Rebels’ tight end duo of Seneca Driver and Maddox Hager is crucial if Boyle County wants to make a serious run at winning another state championship.

5. St. Xavier Tigers

St. Xavier (4-3) bounced back nicely from dropping their third game of the season to Boyle County (4-1) when they upended Dupont Manual, 28-17, last week.

Right out of the gates to kickoff the 2025 season, St. Xavier started with a 38-7 win over Owensboro. The Tigers have since then had a bye week before pulling off dominant victories over Bowling Green and Louisville Male, respectively. Despite the three straight losses, the Tigers make their way back within the Top 5 teams in Kentucky.

The Tigers are back at home this week when they face off versus North Hardin.
