The 2025 Kentucky high school football season is here heading into the seventh week and there’s little movement in the latest set of Top 25 rankings.

The Trinity Shamrocks firmly holds the title of being Kentucky’s No. 1 team, with Christian Academy of Louisville and South Warren coming in a 2-3. Who else makes the cut in this week’s Kentucky high school football rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Kentucky high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Sep. 29.

1. Trinity Shamrocks

The Trinity Shamrocks (5-1) notched one of its best victories of the season when they defeated No. 4 St. Xavier in a 35-24 decision. It’s back-to-back weeks that the Shamrocks play a team named ‘St. Xavier’ as they’ll take on the bunch from Ohio this week.

The Shamrocks will aim for rare three-peat in 2025, which they have opened the season with some dominant performances, including a 63-0 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park and a 37-0 blowout of Frederick Douglass.

They will need players like quarterback Zane Johnson, running back Jamaurion Berry and wide receiver Sekou Kamara to fuel what is one of Kentucky’s most potent offenses. If Trinity can pull off a win this week against St. Xavier (Ohio), there’s a strong chance they could win out the rest of the way.

2. Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions

Christian Academy of Louisville (6-0) had one of their toughest games of the season when they narrowly edged out Bowling Green, 27-24, last week.

The Centurions started the season off winning three straight blowout victories, including wins over Lexington Christian Academy and Owensboro, respectively. They added also impressive victories in with a 34-27 decision over Ryle and a 55-6 rout of Central Hardin.

Christian Academy of Louisville has been one of the more dominant teams in the state as they feature a loaded roster, led by four-star sophomore defensive lineman Kellan Hall. The Centurions also have talents like senior defensive back Stone Perkins (Ball State commit) and linebacker Chapman Russell on defense.

This week the Centurions hit the road and take on De Sales (2-3).

3. South Warren Spartans

The newest team in the Bluegrass State to make their way into the Top 5 of the rankings is South Warren after a 35-0 win over Pulaski County last week.

When it comes to playmakers on the offensive end making things happen for the Spartans, quarterback Camden Page and running back Kayden York have been the two main contributors thus far. Page has thrown for 1,215 yards and 11 touchdowns and York has totaled 461 and 10 scores on the ground.

South Warren looks to remain undefeated this week when they take on winless Meade County (0-6).

4. St. Xavier Tigers

St. Xavier (3-2) dropped just their second game of the season when they fell to top-ranked Trinity , 35-24. The Tigers have no time to dwell on the loss and they take on No. 6 Boyle County (4-1) this Friday night.

Right out of the gates to kickoff the 2025 season, St. Xavier started with a 38-7 win over Owensboro. The Tigers have since then had a bye week before pulling off dominant victories over Bowling Green and Louisville Male, respectively. Despite consecutive losses, the Tigers remain within the Top 5 teams in Kentucky.

5. Highlands Bluebirds

Highlands (5-1) have now won consecutive games after dropping their first game of the season, by defeating Harrison County, 53-0, last week.

Last time the Bluebirds’ took the field before the start of the 2025 campaign was a 61-23 loss to Cooper in the Kentucky high school football KHSAA Class 5A semifinals. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak and ended their quest for a state championship, which they last won in 2014.

Through six games, Highlands’ offense has been humming under the controls of quarterback Mario Litmer, who has completed 81 of 125 passes for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Bluebirds will have one of their toughest contests of the year when they welcome No. 9 Covington Catholic into town.
