The 2025 Kentucky high school football season is here and there’s already been a slew of games that impact the Top 25 rankings. From seasoned state powers to rising programs around Kentucky, which high school football teams were able to make the cut?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Kentucky high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey.

1. Trinity Shamrocks

The Trinity Shamrocks closed out the 2024 Kentucky high school football season with a nine-game winning streak and winning their second consecutive Class 6A state championship.

This season, the Shamrocks will aim for rare three-peat in 2025, which they opened with a 63-0 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park on Aug. 22. Last week Trinity dropped their first game of the season in a 24-21 loss to Archbishop Moeller.

They will need quarterback Zane Johnson to manifest offensive mastery, allowing him to utilize talented players like running back Jamaurion Berry and wide receiver Sekou Kamara. Next couple of weeks will be tough tests for the Shamrocks as they take on Carmel (Indiana) and Louisville Male, the No. 18 ranked team in Kentucky.

2. St. Xavier Tigers

St. Xavier opened its 2025 regular season with a 38-7 win over Owensboro on Aug. 22. The Tigers have a bye week before taking on Elder at home and then back-to-back road games versus Trinity and Boyle County.

The Tigers have received strong production out of running back Jordan Senior (30 carries, 213 yards) and wide receiver Jake Washington (13 catches, 287 yards). On defense, Washington leads the team with three interceptions and defensive lineman Michael Carter, who has notched three sacks this fall.
