Longtime Alabama high school football coach announces retirement

After six seasons at helm of the Bob Jones Patriots, Patriots head football coach Kelvis White has decided to call it a coaching career from Alabama high school football.
White announced via social media that he was handing in his resignation and retiring from coaching. The Patriots are coming off a 5-5 campaign, missing out on making Alabama’s Class 7A playoffs. In White’s time coaching at Bob Jones, he compiled an overall record of 29-55 with one playoff berth in 2024 when the team went 6-5.

Here is an excerpt from White’s announcement he made on Wednesday morning:
“After 25 fulfilling years as an educator in the Alabama public school system, I am announcing my retirement. My journey has been great! I am incredibly grateful for my time with Madison City Schools and the administrative staff at Bob Jones High School, who gave me the opportunity to be an educator and to serve as the head football coach for the last six years. My heartfelt thanks go out to Mrs. Sylvia Lambert, Mr. Robbie Parker, and Mr. Eric Terrell for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Bob Jones family, and to Dr. Ed Nichols for his leadership and continued support. I have been fortunate to work alongside many great leaders who were instrumental in my career as a coach and educator at Homewood, Russellville, Dothan, and Mae Jemison high schools. I want to thank each of them for their support and guidance.“
Before arriving at Bob Jones, White coached previously at Mae Jamison and Dothan for 12 seasons, putting together a combined record of 64-65 and eight playoff appearances between the two schools. White also coached at Homewood and Russellville, respectively.
