The Los Angeles Rams went out of their territory and conducted their minicamp in Hawaii. While some days were private, they had a one-day engagement with the fans. However, the NFC West team made a lasting impact on the community by helping a Hawaii high school football team rise once again.

As Rams writer Mara Powner wrote, “The Los Angeles Rams, in collaboration with Hollman Lockers and design firm Forty Nine Degrees, have announced an initiative to support the Maui community by building new locker rooms for Lahainaluna High School in Lahaina, Maui.”

The project entails custom-built lockers with integrated storage and inspiring graphics that uphold the community’s fortitude. Likewise, the locker room’s design will pay tribute to Lahainaluna’s heritage by including mottos like “We are one,” which is parallel to the Los Angeles Rams’
“We Then Me.” Powner added that the locker rooms will be done by July, in time for the new school year.

A devastating 2023 wildfire in Maui destroyed the homes of over 450 student-athletes, including those who play football for Lahainaluna. Worst yet, some lost their relatives to the catastrophe. Despite the situation, the community united to help one another.

The National Football League honored Lahainaluna by having their players and coaches become honorary coin toss captains at Super Bowl LVIII. Likewise, an NFL Films documentary narrated by Hawaii native Marcus Mariota told the community’s fall and rise.

Despite their struggles, Lahainaluna had a 6-5 record last season. The year before, they went 5-2, including a 5-0 record in the Maui League. Lahainaluna won four consecutive Hawaii high school football Division II state championships from 2016 to 2019.

In addition to building Lahainaluna’s locker rooms, the Los Angeles Rams gave back to the Hawaiian community by conducting a girls’ flag football clinic. Likewise, their rookies participated in a Habitat for Humanity rebuild in Lahaina.
