Another huge weekend of high school football around Louisiana is in the books, and the top-25 state rankings are now updated to reflect that.

The top two teams in the Boot — Ruston and Acadiana — remain the same. But there’s been major shakeup elsewhere in the top 10 and throughout the top 25, which can be found below:

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Ruston

Previous: No. 1

The Bearcats got everything they could handle and more on Friday night from Ouachita Parish before sneaking away with a 22-21 victory. They’ll be back home this week for a huge game against No. 5 Neville before traveling to No. 6 Alexandria the following week.

2. Acadiana

Previous: No. 2

After a season-opening loss to No. 1 Ruston, the Rams have won five in a row, including a 48-7 rout of Barbe on Friday night. Crosstown rival Lafayette will be looking to pull off a huge upset when they host Acadiana this week.

3. Edna Karr

Previous: No. 5 (+2)

The Cougars scored one of the most impressive wins of any team in the state this season a 42-14 domination of No. 14 Brother Martin. Karr’s defense has been special this season, and they’ll look to keep it going against No. 18 Jesuit on Friday.

4. Alexandria

Previous: No. 6 (+2)

Alexandria continues to climb up the rankings, jumping into the top five this week. That move comes on the heels of a key 45-35 win over No. 16 West Monroe. They’ll head on the road to face Pineville this week before their showdown with No. 1 Ruston.

5. Neville

Previous: No. 4 (-1)

The Tigers remain undefeated ahead of their game against Ruston after beating an overmatched Pineville team 50-10. They’ll be heavy underdogs this week against the state’s No. 1 team but have a chance at a signature late-season victory.

6. Catholic

Previous: No. 3 (-6)

Catholic had no problem with rival Liberty Magnet over the weekend in a 42-14 beatdown. Things get much tougher this week though, as undefeated Central comes in looking to keep its seven-game winning streak going.

7. Archbishop Rummel

Previous: No. 9 (+2)

After dropping its first game of the year last weekend to Brother Martin, Archbishop Rummel won a 14-0 defensive slugfest against Warren Easton. They’ll close out the season with three tough games against No. 19 St. Augustine, a battle-tested Holy Cross squad, and No. 18 Jesuit.

8. Zachary

Previous: No. 8

Zachary moved to 5-1 with a comfortable 40-15 victory over Scotlandville Magneton Friday, and their remaining schedule features two games they’ll be heavily favored in and two more against top-10 opponents Central and Baton Rouge Catholic.

9. Central

Previous: No. 7 (-2)

The Wildcats remained undefeated after beating city foe Woodlawn on Friday 24-6, a tune-up before they face Baton Rouge Catholic in what will be a huge tilt between top-10 teams this week.

10. Teurlings Catholic

Previous: No. 10

Teurlings Catholic continued its strong start with a 49-13 victory over Rayne and has now outscored its last two opponents by a combined score of 97-26. They will be favored in each of their next two games before a big showdown at No. 11 St. Thomas More on November 1.
