The postseason continued in the Old Line State last week, and another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Maryland high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Nov. 25.

1. St. Frances Academy Panthers

Save for their 34-26 victory over St. Joseph’s Prep, all their victories have been blowouts. Their 66-0 shutout of Hewlett Sports Academy marks their biggest winning margin. Likewise, they’ve blanked four of their opponents this year. However, St. Frances Academy’s season is not yet over. While they are done competing against Maryland high school football teams, they will have a future game against powerhouse Corner Canyon.

2. DeMatha Catholic Stags

The Stags defeated Gonzaga to capture the WCAC Capital championship. A rushing touchdown with a minute left in regulation led to the title and DeMatha Catholic’s 13-0 season. The Stags had three shutout wins and seven victories with double-digit margins.

3. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

Beating McDonogh for their fourth consecutive Maryland high school football Class A championship closed their 2025 season at 10-2. Archbishop Spalding’s other victories weren’t even close, with margins ranging from 22 to 50 points.

4. Good Counsel Falcons

The Falcons barely made it to a winning record (6-5) this season. Four of their victories were by one possession. Conversely, Good Counsel could have had a better standing, given that three of their losses were by seven points or less.

5. McDonogh School Eagles

The Eagles’ loss to Archbishop Spalding in the Maryland high school football Class A state championship ended their season at 8-3, a lower finish than their 10-2 mark in 2024. McDonogh School could have had a better finish if not for their eight-point loss to the Cavaliers and their seven-point defeat to Calvert Hall.
