McCallie School (Tenn.) stuns No. 11 Mission Viejo (Calif.)

Less than a week removed from being upset by Ensworth (Tennessee.), McCallie School (Tenn.) decided to pay it forward to another unexpected program: No. 11 Mission Viejo (Calif.).
The Blue Tornado (4-1) used a stifling defensive front paired with timely offense to pull off a stunning 25-14 victory over the visiting Diablos from California. McCallie School entered the game as the No. 2 ranked team in the state of Tennessee.
Mission Viejo (4-1) entered the contest with one of the nation’s top offenses, led by Ohio State three-star quarterback commit Luke Fahey. The Diablos entered the contest averaging a cool 38.2 points per game.
The Blue Tornado would strike first on the scoreboard as they scored on a touchdown off a 3-yard Kris Lloyd scoring run. Just before the intermission horn sounded, place kicker Ben Brewer knocked down a 20-yard field goal to put McCallie ahead by two scores.

McCallie School held Mission Viejo well below their season average of 38 per game and by halftime were ahead 10-0, holding the Diablos scoreless for just the second time this season. The other time being in Mission Viejo’s 7-3 win over Santa Margarita Catholic in the regular season opener.
The Blue Tornado put the finishing touches on the victory with 7:08 remaining when southpaw quarterback Elliott Drapeau hit Keeyshawn Tabuteau on a 6-yard scoring strike to put McCallie ahead 25-7. That was all the Blue Tornado needed to secure arguably one of the biggest victories in program history, knocking off California’s No. 3 ranked team.
