Earlier this week, we shared game predictions based on the Massey Ratings for the biggest high school football games of the weekend. Today, Rivals national high school sports reporter Andy Villamarzo makes his picks:

Glades Central (Fla.) at Pahokee (Fla.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 5 p.m. ET
Where: Anquan Boldin Stadium, Pahokee, Fla.

The Muck Bowl between Glades Central (8-1) and Pahokee (7-2) is the 45th edition of the longstanding rivalry. The Raiders lead the all-time series at 26-18 and it’s always a better game when both of the programs are doing well. Looking at how both teams have faired this season, Glades Central lone loss came against an always pesky Sebring squad and Pahokee losses coming to a pair of state championship contenders in Cardinal Newman, Vero Beach. We are rolling with the Blue Devils in this contest.

Prediction: Pahokee 31, Glades Central 21

No. 8 Edna Karr (La.) vs. John Curtis (La.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Shrine on Airline, Metairie, La.

Louisiana high school football’s premier matchup of the year is whenever these two teams square off. Edna Karr (8-0) enters the contest with one of the state’s most dominating defenses in the country as they have only given up 66 points through eight games. John Curtis (7-0) will need to find a way to score points against Edna Karr’s seemingly impenetrable defense, but we just don’t see that happening come Friday night.

Prediction: Edna Karr 38, John Curtis 16

St. Peter’s Prep (N.J.) at No. 25 Don Bosco Prep (N.J.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Granite Stadium, Ramsey, N.J.

The Don Bosco Prep Ironmen (8-0) are the No. 25 ranked team in the land and aim to maintain their undefeated record when they take on St. Peter’s Prep (7-1), the No. 5 ranked team out of New Jersey. There’s not many teams that rely on their defenses the way that Don Bosco Prep has this fall, with the Ironmen having only scored 226 points, but having yielded just 76. We think this will come down to who’s defense rises to the occasion and we give the nod to Don Bosco Prep.

Prediction: Don Bosco Prep 18, St. Peter’s Prep 12

No. 13 Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.) at No. 16 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Brian Piccolo Memorial Stadium, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

No. 16 St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (9-1) has won nine straight games since they lost their regular season opener against Mater Dei (Calif.) at the Broward County Classic Showcase. Like the Raiders, No. 13 Chaminade-Madonna Prep (8-1) has done almost the same exact thing, except winning eight consecutive since losing to St. Frances Academy (Md.). In the battle of southpaw quarterbacks, St. Thomas Aquinas’ Mason Mallory and Chaminade-Madonna’s Malik Leonard, it’ll come down to quarterback play in this South Florida showdown.

Prediction: St. Thomas Aquinas 38, Chaminade-Madonna 35

Douglas County (Ga.) at No. 22 Carrollton (Ga.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Grisham Stadium, Carrollton, Georgia

Next to Buford and Grayson, Carrollton (9-0) is the next hottest team in the state of Georgia nationally and they have proven it on a weekly basis. Trojans’ freshman quarterback Christian Cypher (1,473 yards, 18 touchdowns) has guided the offense with ease and gets some of the pressure taken off of him with running back Cameron Wood (743 yards, 20 touchdowns) alongside him. Douglas County’s only two losses on the season came back-to-back against Langston Hughes and No. 5 ranked Buford. There’s reason to believe either team could win this battle of Northwest Georgia powers, but give us the Trojans to complete a 10-0 season.

Prediction: Carrollton 42, Douglas County 28

Lowndes (Ga.) at Valdosta (Ga.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Bazmore-Hyder Stadium, Valdosta, Georgia

Rivals will be on hand for this mega South Georgia high school football matchup known as the Winnersville Classic. Valdosta (8-1) and Lowndes (9-0) are a couple of the region’s most storied teams and they both enter the contest as viable state championship contending clubs. If you look at how last year’s contest closed the 2024 regular season, it was Lowndes coming away with a 30-20 victory. Valdosta’s lone loss was a 18-17 decision to Colquitt, so both teams could easily be undefeated heading into Friday night’s contest. In what’s expected to be a raucous crowd on hand, the Vikings are who we think comes away with the narrow win.

Prediction: Lowndes 24, Valdosta 22

No. 12 Mater Dei (Calif.) at No. 1 St. John Bosco (Calif.)

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 10 p.m. ET
Where: Panish Family Stadium, Bellflower, Calif.

I mean, is there really any better matchup taking place on Halloween night than No. 12 Mater Dei (7-2) and No. 1 St. John Bosco? This game has so much at stake because for the first time since 2015, the Monarchs have lost two games and there’s more questions swirling around who might win California’s CIF Open Division state championship in quite some time. Both teams are going to reach the Southern Section postseason, but it’s the Monarchs that need this game more than the Braves, for confidence reasons as well. Ah, picking this one is much harder than folks realize.

Prediction: St. John Bosco 35, Mater Dei 34

St. Joseph’s Prep School (Pa.) vs. La Salle College (Pa.)

When: Saturday, Nov. 1, 1 p.m. PT
Where: Villanova Stadium, Villanova, Pennsylvania

This is the second meeting between the two schools, with the first time St. Joseph’s Prep School Hawks (5-4) falling to La Salle College (8-1), 31-20. The Hawks have lost four games for the first time since 2011, but have won three games straight heading into Saturday’s PIAA Class 6A, District 12 semifinal. The x-factor in this game will be the play of the Missouri commitment Gavin Sidwar, who has been playing lights out this fall for the Explorers. In a win or go home game, we go ahead and lean with the team that won the first time around.

Prediction: La Salle College 42, St. Joseph’s Prep School 38

The St. James Academy (Va.) at No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Md.)

When: Saturday, Nov. 1, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Under Armour Stadium, Baltimore, Maryland

Good on good when Maryland and Virginia’s top high school football teams take the field at Under Armour Stadium on Saturday night. St. Frances Academy (5-1) has pretty much seen it all, with their lone loss of the season coming in a 21-14 decision against No. 1 ranked St. John Bosco (Calif.). The St. James Academy (8-0) is coming off a 14-12 win over St. Thomas More (Conn.), a team the Panthers defeated 60-0 already. It’s hard seeing this one being that close, especially comparing the results of how each team beat St. Thomas More.

Prediction: St. Frances Academy 49, The St. James Academy 17

No. 2 IMG Academy (Fla.) at Hun School (N.J.)

When: Saturday, Nov. 1, 8 p.m. ET
Where: The Hun School Athletic Complex, Princeton, N.J.

There’s little reason to believe that IMG Academy (8-0) will be slowing down anytime soon after the way they dominated East St. Louis (Ill.) last week. Ascenders tailback Lekhy Thompkins (Louisville commitment), was instrumental in the win for IMG Academy as he rushed for nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns. Hun School (7-2) counters with three-star sophomore quarterback Lukas Prock, who has thrown for 3,483 yards and 36 touchdowns, on the offensive side of the ball. To believe IMG Academy will drop a game before facing St. Frances Academy (Md.) is not something we see happening.

Prediction: IMG Academy 30, Hun School 14
