Nebraska High School Football: Millard South cruises to Class A title

All Millard South needed was one half to show the Nebraska high school football world that they wouldn’t really need to do much in the second half of Tuesday’s NSAA Class A state championship game against Papillion-La Vista South.

It would be the Jett Thomalla show in the first half as the Alabama pledge threw for seven touchdowns in the first half en route to leading the Patriots to a 49-0 victory. Millard South secured winning its fourth state championship in program history after getting a historic first half performance from Thomalla.

Thomalla was unstoppable in the opening half of play for Millard South as the senior signal caller completed 12 of 16 passes for 243 yards and seven touchdowns as the Patriots carried a 49-0 lead into intermission.

Papillion-La Vista South by halftime had totaled four total yards of offense and zero first downs.

The Patriots didn’t keep their foot on the proverbial gas pedal as they didn’t score another touchdown for the rest of the game, not that they needed to with the game fully in hand.

The Alabama commitment entered the night having completed 178 of 245 passes for 3,196 yards and 51 touchdowns in his senior campaign. Now unofficially, Thomalla finishes throwing for nearly 3,500 yards and a total of 58 touchdown passes.
