After Week 1 of the Nevada high school football season, there’s not many changes towards the top but as you work your way down, you begin to see some shakeups.

Nationally ranked Bishop Gorman continues to dominate at the top after dispatching Centennial in a 52-0 rout to start the season. Who else stood out across the Silver State?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Nevada Top 25 high school football rankings, according to Massey.

1. Bishop Gorman Gaels (1-0)

Bishop Gorman are the standard when it comes to Nevada high school football and the regular season opener was a prime example. The defending Class 5A Division I state champions opened up the 2025 campaign with a 52-0 dismantling of Centennial, showing folks that the Gaels are not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Five-star safety Jett Washington, an Oregon commit, continues to headline defense that pitched a shutout right at the outset. Four-star cornerback Hayden Stepp, three-star edge edge rusher Prince Williams (Arizona) and emerging young stars Tamatoa Gaoteote and Tayaun Lawrence are others on Bishop Gorman’s defense that will make life difficult for opposing offenses on a weekly basis.

Three-star quarterback Maika Eugenio (Hawaii commit) leads a high-powered offense that is the best in the Silver State.

2. Liberty Patriots (0-1)

Liberty‘s 2024 season ended with a loss and started off this season with one as well, losing a 45-27 decision to one of Utah’s top programs in Skyridge.

The Patriots have one of the toughest tasks of any team in the country in trying to get by Bishop Gorman in Nevada’s Class 5A Division I in order to become a state champion. Starting off the season with a loss was a tough pill to swallow as they enter Week 2 of the season.

A bright spot out of Week 1 was the play of running back Ezra Sanelivi, who carried the ball 25 times for 125 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Liberty will look to get back on track as they take on Kailua in Week 2.

3. Arbor View Aggies (0-1)

Arbor View finished last season at No. 2 in the Nevada state rankings after a 10-2 campaign that ended with a loss to Bishop Gorman in the state title game. Now Aggies begin this season with a loss after losing a tough 28-20 decision against Mililani in Hawaii to open things up.

Having a quarterback like Utah quarterback commit Thaddeus Thatcher always helps your offense’s cause as the Aggies look to get back on track this week against one of the country’s top quarterbacks.

The Aggies return back home this week to take on Nebraska’s best team in Millard South, led by Alabama four-star commit Jett Thomalla, at home.

4. Bishop Manogue Catholic Miners (1-1)

Bishop Manogue Catholic have won consecutive state championships after defeating Faith Lutheran for the program’s 15th state championship in 2024. The Miners now are setting their sights on title No. 16, but just dropped their first game of the season in a 51-38 loss to St. Mary’s.

Nevada commit quarterback Brandon Mann through two games has proven himself as one of the state’s best quarterbacks in back-to-back weeks. Mann has completed 26 of 44 passes for 428 yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions thrown.

The Miners aim to nab win No. 2 on the season when they face Rocklin at home this week.

5. Spanish Springs Cougars (1-0)

Spanish Springs takes a big leap after Week 1 as they soundly defeated Simi Valley, 41-21, behind a strong offensive effort through the air.
