Don Bosco players celebrate during a football game against St. Joseph, Montvale, N.J., Oct. 11, 2025.

New Jersey high school football for the fourth straight week continues with Don Bosco Prep Ironmen as the No. 1 ranked program out of the Garden State. Will anyone be able to upend the Ironmen at this juncture heading into the postseason?

The remaining teams within the Top 5 along with the Ironmen remained mostly unchanged after last week, as the rest of the teams were able to come away with victories and St. Joseph Regional moving a spot after a forfeit victory over Pope John XXIII. Who else made the cut in the seventh set of the Top 25 rankings out of New Jersey?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest New Jersey high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 19.

1. Don Bosco Prep Ironmen

The Don Bosco Prep Ironmen (6-0) take the top spot in the rankings for the fourth straight week and this time had an easy time with a team, rolling to a 40-7 rout of Seton Hall Prep last week. It was just another example of the level that the Ironmen are playing at currently.

Don Bosco Prep opened the season with a 14-10 win over Melissa (TX) and followed it up with another out-of-state team in Monarch (Fla.), defeating the Knights 38-21 at home. The Ironmen soundly defeated St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) a couple few ago, 28-0. The Ironmen last week faced No. 7 ranked DePaul Catholic and came away with a convincing 47-15 victory.

Next up for the top-ranked Don Bosco Prep is a road matchup against Paramus Catholic. The Ironmen have a great chance of running the table and finishing with a undefeated regular season.

2. Bergen Catholic Crusaders

The Bergen Catholic Crusaders (6-1) have finally been dethroned from the top spot in the state of New Jersey when they fell to rival, Don Bosco Prep (see above). Crusaders are looking more and more like themselves, picking up back-to-back wins over Paramus Catholic and Delbarton, respectively.

The Crusaders have had themselves a doozy of a regular season opener when they defeated East St. Louis (Ill.) at the Battle at the Beach Classic in Ocean City. Bergen Catholic followed up that with another impressive win down in South Florida, defeating West Boca Raton (Fla.), 21-14. Bergen Catholic is back at home this week when they take on No. 4 St. Joseph Regional in what will be the state’s top game.

3. Hun School Raiders

The Hun School (5-2) dropped their second consecutive game against a team from the DMV, this time it was a 29-7 loss to nationally ranked St. Frances Academy this past Friday.

The Raiders recently cruised past Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 42-0, and then couple weeks ago soundly defeated winless Mt. Zion Prep, 48-0. Hun School relies on a stout defense, led by a pair of senior defensive ends in Luke Wafle (USC commit) and Seth Clarke (Rice commit).

The Hun School will look to snap their two-game losing skid when they take on The First Academy down in the Sunshine State this week.

4. St. Joseph Regional Green Knights

St. Joseph Regional (4-2) moved up a spot after picking up a forfeit win over Pope John XXIII, which was dealing with a health issue within their team last week.

The Green Knights got things rolling this 2025 season when they traveled down to the nation’s capital to face St. John’s College High coming away with a 34-19 win to kickoff the season and then followed it up with a 48-0 victory over Cardinal Hayes (N.Y.).

The Green Knights feature one of the most talented secondaries around, led by Tennessee commit KJ McClain. St. Joseph Regional has arguably their toughest test of the regular season when they go on the road to take on Bergen Catholic.

5. St. Peter’s Prep Marauders

Coming off a narrow victory over No. 5 St. Joseph Regional Green Knights a couple weeks ago, St. Peter’s Prep had followed that up with a 42-3 rout of Seton Hall Prep before losing to DePaul Catholic last week, 31-21.

St. Peter’s Prep had won their previous four games by an average of 32 points and their most recent win before St. Joseph Regional came over a talented Delbarton group, 42-7. The Marauders (5-1) feature one of the Garden State’s most potent offenses, which includes a pair of four-star talents in offensive lineman Oluwasemilore Olubobola and running back Abdul Turay.

The Marauders will shift their focus and look to bounce back against Pope John XXIII (1-6) this week.
