Iona defeated Cardinal Hayes 42-14 in CHSAA football action at Iona Prep in New Rochelle Sept. 27, 2025.

The New York high school football campaign is winding down as the postseason approaches, with teams heading into their final week or two of regular season play.

The last set of Empire State rankings before the playoffs has Iona Preparatory School as New York’s No. 1 high school football team once again, with Monsignor Farrell coming in second behind them. Which other New York high school football teams make the list in our next set of Top 25 rankings of the regular season?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest New York high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 3.

1. Iona Preparatory School Gaels

Iona Prep (8-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season, with their latest victory being a 49-21 romp of Archbishop Stepinac.

The Gaels started the regular season with a bang, halting the Somers Tuskers’ winning streak and routed them, 37-7, at the Hero’s Bowl Classic and then followed it up with a 53-43 victory over a very good Paramus Catholic team out of New Jersey.

Quarterback Julian Guzman has led the way for Iona Prep’s offense, throwing for 1,748 yards and 17 touchdowns through nine games. Running back Crew Davis, a three-star prospect committed to North Carolina, has spearheaded to the Gaels’ efforts on the offensive side of the ball with 893 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground this season.

2. Monsignor Farrell Lions

Monsignor Farrell (8-1) are on a mission as they head into the playoffs as they cruised to a 38-13 win over Cardinal Hayes last week.

The Lions end the regular season with a chance to secure a No. 1 seed heading into the New York Catholic High School Football League (NYCHSFL) postseason.

Sophomore quarterback Bryce Moye has been solid behind center in the Lions’ first eight games as the signal caller completed 105 of 143 passes for 1,601 yards, 16 touchdowns and just one pick. Senior running back Kevin Gumb Jr. has been the workhorse out of the backfield this season, with the tailback rushed for 1,083 yards and 14 touchdowns.

3. Syracuse Christian Brothers Academy Brothers

Christian Brothers Academy (8-0) nearly got nipped by the upset bug last week, barely pulling off a 21-20 win over Cicero-North Syracuse.

The 2025 season kicked off with a dominating 28-7 victory over Whitesboro to start off at 1-0. Christian Brothers improved to 7-0 after last week’s 42-10 romp over a previously undefeated Liverpool. Looking at the gap between CBA’s scoring versus their opponents is wide as the Brothers have out-scored the opposition 346-53 through seven contests.

The Brothers have now completed their 2025 regular season slate and now await for who they will play in the NYSPHSAA Class AA playoffs.

4. Tottenville Pirates

For the Tottenville Pirates (8-0), it was another easy win as they defeated John F Kennedy, 42-8.

After the midway point, the Pirates have out-scored their opponents 337-134 on the season, with their offense averaging an impressive 37.4 points per game. With the way their regular season schedule plays out the rest of the way, Tottenville should be undefeated heading into the postseason.

The Pirates takes aim at going 9-0 on the season when they take on Curtis.

5. St. Francis Red Raiders

St. Francis (7-1) closed out regular season play with a impressive 29-14 win over No. 15 Canisius. When it comes to high-powered offenses, the Red Raiders can keep up with the best of ’em in the Empire State.

The Red Raiders got a solid outing in Week 1 from junior quarterback Trent Buttles, who completed 14 of 29 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns.

Entering this season, the Red Raiders are seeking to reach the state championship game for the first time since 2018. The Red Raiders will need big seasons from Domonic Cook, Jr. and Mason Anderson if they are to accomplish that goal.
