In what was billed as another potential upset in the making because of last week’s 7-6 win by Santa Margarita Catholic over Mater Dei when the Eagles faced St. John Bosco on Friday night, turned into just another win for the Braves.

Jason Negro’s group played complimentary football, en route to St. John Bosco’s 27-14 road victory over Santa Margarita Catholic. The Braves remained undefeated and improved to 8-0 on the season with two games to go against Servite and Mater Dei, respectively.

When the Braves needed to make plays, they came up in the clutch throughout the evening.

It would be sophomore quarterback Koa Malau’ulu getting things started when he connected with Carson Clark on a 66-yard touchdown pass in the opening quarter.

After both teams traded scores in the first half, the Braves (8-0) began to pull away heading into halftime as Malau’ulu found a open Darren Tubbs on an 11-yard corner route to give St. John Bosco a 21-7 lead at intermission.

The Eagles would score another touchdown to climb to within 21-14, but the Braves put the game out of reach when Malau’ulu threw his third touchdown pass of the night, this time to Texas A&M commitment Madden Williams.
