Playing in only their second home game of the entire season, the No. 2 nationally ranked IMG Academy took care of business in continuing their undefeated 2025 campaign.

Behind a massive rushing performance by Louisville commit Le’Khy Thompkins, the Ascenders rolled to a 38-14 victory over visiting East St. Louis on Saturday afternoon at IMG Stadium.

IMG Academy (8-0) leaned heavily on their power run game, led by Thompkins, who finished the day going for 194 yards on 21 yards attempts and two touchdowns.

AJ Marks opened the second half up with a 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and the Ascenders never looked back. Marks also scored a touchdown to start off the game, intercepting a Reece Shanklin pass and taking it back for six.

“I’ve never had a game like that,” Marks said of starting the game and a half off with touchdowns.

East St. Louis (5-3) couldn’t overcome numerous turnovers as they ended up dropping their third game, which all have come on the road. The Flyers other two losses on the season were at Bergen Catholic (N.J.) and Bishop Gorman (Nev.), respectively.

Flyers’ running back Myson Cook-Johnson led the way for East St. Louis offensively, rushing for 101 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown.
