The 2025 North Carolina high school football season continues with another slate of weekend games. In addition to the state’s best teams battling each other, some elite squads from the Tar Heel State will face some of the top squads from other states. Here are the five games from North Carolina you must look out for.

No. 1 William Amos Hough at Highland Springs (Va.)

When: Friday, September 5, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Highland Springs Football Stadium, Highland Springs, Virginia

North Carolina’s best team is coming off a 35-0 shutout victory over Independence. This time, they will travel to Virginia and face Highland Springs, a team that started its season with a dominating 68-12 win over Hopewell. William Amos Hough is predicted to have an easy victory despite being the visitor.

Massey prediction: William Amos Hough 42, Highland Springs 13

No. 11 East Forsyth at No. 4 Grimsley

When: Friday, September 5, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Jamieson Stadium, Greensboro, North Carolina

The Whirlies won their first two games, including their 31-17 victory over West Forsyth. This time, the defending North Carolina high school football Class 4A state champions will welcome East Forsyth, which came off a 33-10 win against Northern Guilford. While the Eagles could be a formidable opponent, Grimsley could walk off with its 19th consecutive victory dating back to last season.

Massey prediction: Grimsley 35, East Forsyth 20

No. 14 Charlotte Catholic at No. 2 Providence Day School

When: Friday, September 5, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Providence Day Football Field, Charlotte, North Carolina

The Chargers improved to 2-0 after a 38-10 victory over Rolesville. After going on the road last week, they will play at home this Friday against Charlotte Catholic, which also won its first two games. While the Cougars could put up a fight, Providence Day School should coast to an easy triumph in this North Carolina high school football showdown.

Massey prediction: Providence Day School 42, Charlotte Catholic 14

No. 16 Clayton at No. 18 Hoggard

When: Friday, September 5, 7 p.m. ET
Where: Hoggard Football Stadium, Wilmington, North Carolina

The Vikings are off to a good start with victories against Richmond Senior and Jack Britt. For their next games, Hoggard will be hosting Clayton, a team that won its first two games versus Wilson Prep and Southern Nash. This game could become a hardly fought North Carolina high school football battle, with the home team emerging on top.

Massey prediction: Clayton 34, Hoggard 28

No. 6 West Charlotte at South Pointe (S.C.)

When: Friday, September 5, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: South Pointe Stallions Stadium, Rock Hill, South Carolina

The Lions made an emphatic statement after a 47-0 shutout victory over Monroe. This week, they will go across the border to play against South Pointe, which is coming off a 28-6 win against Rock Hill. Though both sides have an equal opportunity to win, West Charlotte should do enough to pick up another road victory.

Massey prediction: West Charlotte 27, South Pointe 21
