NSAA penalized Millard South (Neb.) due to act of undue influence

It was just last week that a report by the Omaha World-Herald unveiled that Nebraska’s No. 1 ranked Millard South Patriots had been disciplined for violations by the Nebraska Schools Activities Association (NSAA) for unknown reasons.
Now, a report is out on why the Patriots were penalized in the first place.
Per the Omaha World-Herald, Millard South was punished by the NSAA due to an act of undue influence by an assistant volunteer coach, who was handed a one-year suspension from coaching within the association for one year with any program.
The report stated that the volunteer assistant coach in question had two players living with him without legal guardianship, which was a violation of NSAA Bylaw 2.8.
The penalties handed down by the NSAA for the aforementioned violations was the Patriots forfeiting their season-opening 49-7 victory over Arbor View, first-year head coach Taylor Mendenhall suspended for multiple games, the school was docked a $500 fine, a written action plan for a lack of administrative oversight and the one-year suspension of a volunteer assistant coach.
Despite the sanctions, Millard South (2-1) is off to a sizzling start to their 2025 season as they routed Arbor View (Nevada), which is now a forfeit loss, and followed it up with wins over Millard West and Kearney by a combined score of 137-0.

Alabama four-star commitment Jett Thomalla quarterbacks the Patriots and had been off to a hot start himself behind center for Millard South. Thomalla through the three games had completed 44 of 58 (75 percent) passes for 802 yards, 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Despite the penalties handed down to Millard South, the three-time state champions are still easily the favorites to win Nebraska’s NSAA Class A state title this fall.
