The high school football season continued in Ohio last week, as many of the top programs in the Buckeye State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Ohio high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 29.

1. Archbishop Moeller Crusaders

The best team in Ohio high school football improved to 5-1 after a one-sided victory against La Salle. Kentucky commit Matt Ponatoski threw for 206 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Juice Glover-Brown rushed for 129 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Cooper McCutchan, Reggie Watson, and Christian Harri scored on receiving touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Archbishop Moeller defense generated eight tackles for losses and three sacks. The Crusaders will travel to face Elder on October 3.

2. St. Edward Eagles

After suffering their first loss this season, the Eagles bounced back by disposing of Maryland’s Bishop McNamara 57-19. It’s the second-most points that St. Edward has scored in a game this season. The Eagles will try to improve their record to 6-1 with a victory against St. Ignatius on October 3.

3. Anderson Raptors

The Raptors remained perfect through five games after an impressive 63-0 shutout victory against Milford. Owen Scalf led the Anderson offense with 286 passing yards, 47 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Jordan Davis added 84 receiving yards, 37 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. Luke Pastura, Cooper Snider, and Cooper Kathman also scored touchdowns. The Raptors defense also contributed six tackles for losses, three interceptions, and four interceptions. The Raptors’ season continues with an October 3 road game against Turpin.

4. Highland Hornets

The Hornets have been excellent through the first half of the 2025 Ohio high school football season. Their latest game is a 62-0 shutout victory against Tallmadge, in which Highland scored 48 first-half points. The Hornets will face Barberton on October 3.

5. Bishop Watterson Eagles

The Eagles remain undefeated this year after a 42-7 victory against St. Francis de Sales. Drew Bellisari threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Caden Mangini (123 rushing yards) and Jack McCoy (136 rushing yards, four touchdowns) powered the Eagles’ ground game. Joe Hayes and Carter Bellisari each caught a touchdown pass. Meanwhile, Nate Henderson made two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Bishop Watterson will battle against Bishop Hartley on October 10.

6. Elder Panthers

After a close call against Kentucky’s St. Xavier, the Panthers improved to 6-0 after a 23-13 victory against Ohio’s St. Xavier. Elder didn’t allow the Bombers to score until the fourth quarter. The Panthers could sustain their undefeated run with a win against Archbishop Moeller on October 3.

7. Marion Local Flyers

The longest winning streak in Ohio high school football extends to 70 games after the Flyers’ 20-19 victory against Versailles. Marion Local won after quarterback Brennan Hess found tight end Brayden Mescher for a touchdown. The Flyers can maintain the winning streak by defeating Fort Recovery on October 3.

8. Olentangy Orange Pioneers

The Pioneers have six victories in as many games. Olentangy Orange scored 28 first-quarter points en route to a 42-7 win against Hilliard Davidson. A victory against Dublin Coffman on October 3 can improve their record to 7-0.

9. Walsh Jesuit Warriors

The Warriors remained in the top ten despite suffering their first loss this season. Milan Parrish caught a touchdown pass to put Walsh Jesuit on board. Likewise, they led in the third quarter after a 43-yard rushing touchdown. However, Archbishop Hoban had the last laugh, earning the victory. The Warriors can bounce by defeating Bishop Hartley on October 3.
