Ohio high school football team cancels game due to federal lawsuit

It doesn’t look like Ohio high school football’s No. 12 ranked Ursuline Fighting Irish will returning to action anytime soon after allegations of hazing have been tied to the program.
Warren City School District released a statement regarding its decision to forgo the Warren G Harding football game against Ursuline on Sep. 19 following of a second federal lawsuit being filed regarding the hazing allegations against the Fighting Irish.
The Warren City School District’s Superintendent Steve Chiaro released the following statement regarding the decision to not play Ursuline on Sep. 19:
In light of the recent allegations against the Ursuline Football Program and a second Federal lawsuit filed today, the Warren G. Harding Raiders, respectfully, will not be playing Ursuline in Game 5 scheduled for September 19.
The decision was made with careful consideration and the district is confident it is in the best best interest of our Warren G. Harding students and our community.
Fighting Irish head coach Daniel Reardon and assistants Timothy McGlynn, Christian Syrianoudis had been placed on administrative leave recently after former player and his family filed a hazing lawsuit against Ursuline last week. The Fighting Irish had announced that longtime assistant Michael Frasco would lead the Ohio high school football program for the rest of the 2025 regular season.

Ursuline was one of Ohio high school football’s top teams from the 2024 season, finishing with a 13-2 record. The Fighting Irish reached the OHSAA’s Division III state semifinals, falling to eventual runnerup Central Catholic, 7-6.
The team’s 2025 Ohio high school football campaign was off to a 2-0 start before having to cancel last week’s game against Farrell due to the amid the allegations of hazing, misconduct lawsuit.
