St. Francis DeSales quarterback RJ Day (9) takes the field with teammates during Week 1 of high school football against Olentangy Berlin at DeSales High School on Aug. 22, 2025.

On Friday night, St. Francis DeSales (OH) was trailing 21-20 with 22 seconds remaining against Harrison and was able to pull off a improbably victory, setup by none other than the son of Ohio State Buckeyes’ head coach Ryan Day.

Stallions’ junior quarterback RJ Day completed a clutch 22-yard pass in the waning moments, setting up the game-winning field goal for St. Francis DeSales. The Stallions improved to 7-2 on the season ahead of next week’s contest versus Bishop Hartley.

The younger Day is rated a three-star quarterback prospect and is ranked No. 18 out of the state of Ohio and 54th amongst signal callers of the 2027 class.

One of Day’s best performances this season came against Columbus Africentric Early College, a 35-18 victory, which the junior completed 16 of 19 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns back on Sep. 5.

Last season at St. Francis DeSales, Day completed 51 of 78 passes for 753 yards and five touchdowns. Day currently holds offers from teams like Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio) and Syracuse.
