After initially being declared as ineligible for the 2025 playoffs by the WPIAL, the association has changed its stance on a Penn State pledge based on a waiver.

According to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by TribLive’s Chris Harlan, Penn State four-star commit Khalil Taylor has been ruled eligible for the 2025 WPIAL postseason. Taylor was previously ruled ineligible back in mid-August by the WPIAL.

Taylor transferred from Seton-LaSalle to Pine-Richland, the state’s No. 10-ranked team, during the off-season. The future Penn State Nittany Lion is now eligible for the upcoming PIAA playoffs this fall with the WPIAL making its ruling on Monday.

Taylor was arguably one of the best players in the state last year with the kind of numbers he was putting up at Seton LaSalle. The 2026 wide receiver hauled in 51 passes for 932 yards and scored 22 touchdowns in helping lead the Rebels to a 11-1 record and reaching the WPIAL championship game.

The Penn State commitment so far this season has recorded two catches for 26 yards and a touchdown through two games played for the Rams.

The Rivals Industry Rankings, which combines Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN for a cumulative grade, also rate him highly at No. 50 overall, ninth at receiver and fourth overall in the Keystone State.

“Khalil Taylor put together some dominant film,” said Rivals Scouting Director Charles Power. “He’s outstanding with the ball in his hands. I mean, you know it’s going to be good when you’re watching a sophomore and he has a highlight film of just touchdowns. He had a dominant sophomore year with 24 touchdowns and close to 1,300 yards. He has a well-rounded skill set. He’s a guy who can separate with his routes. I think he’s really good with the ball in his hands and has the potential to be a YAC (yards after catch) monster.”
