Pennsylvania High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Sept. 29

The high school football season continued in Pennsylvania last week, as many of the top programs in the Keystone State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Pennsylvania high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 29.

1. La Salle College (4-1)

The Explorers suffered their first loss of the season Friday, a 39-36 setback to No. 7 Roman Catholic. La Salle College quarterback Gavin Sidwar, a Missouri commit, was picked off three times in the loss. The team will face off against No. 2 St. Joseph’s Prep School on Saturday.

2. St. Joseph’s Prep School (2-3)

The Hawks have rebounded from their 0-3 start with back-to-back shutout victories, the latest being a 58-0 romp over Father Judge. St. Joseph’s Prep School will have a chance to grab a lot more momentum this weekend against No. 1 La Salle College.

3. Central Catholic (5-1)

The Vikings powered past No. 9 North Allegheny on Friday, 21-6. Central Catholic only led 7-3 at the halftime break but a pair of third-quarter touchdowns proved to be the difference in the ballgame. The team will continue its Pennsylvania high school football season Friday against Shaler Area on Friday.

4. Malvern Prep (4-1)

The Friars extended their winning streak to four games on Friday with a 31-24 victory over Gonzaga, the top-ranked team in Washington, D.C. Malvern Prep will be off next week before facing Germantown Academy on Oct. 11.

5. Peters Township (5-0)

Nolan DiLucia completed 16 of 24 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in Peters Township‘s 24-20 victory over Upper Saint Clair on Friday. The win pushed the Indians’ record to 5-0 on the season. They’ll look to extend their winning streak further on Friday against Moon Area.

6. Harrisburg (6-0)

The Cougars remain perfect on the season after a 49-0 shutout victory over Carlisle Area. Harrisburg has outscored its last three opponents 140-6. Next up for the Cougars is a Saturday matchup against Altoona.

7. Roman Catholic (3-2)

The Cahillite knocked off No. 1 La Salle College on Friday, 39-36, thanks in large part to an outstanding performance by quarterback Semaj Beals. The Akron commit threw five touchdowns in the victory. Roman Catholic will continue its Pennsylvania high school football season Friday against Cardinal O’Hara.

8. Pine-Richland

The Rams made quick work – literally! – of Fox Chapel Area, winning 63-3 on Friday in a game that featured shortened quarters and a running clock in the second half. Pine-Richland will face off against Penn Hills on Friday.

9. North Allegheny (5-1)

The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, a 21-6 setback to Central Catholic. Quarterback Brady Brinkley finished 15 of 29 passes for 122 yards in the loss. North Allegheny will look to bounce back Friday against Mt. Lebanon.

10. Upper Saint Clair (5-1)

Panthers quarterback Ethan Hellman completed 26 of 36 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough as Upper Saint Clair lost Friday to Peters Township, 24-20. Next up for the Panthers is a matchup against South Fayette Township on Friday.
