Pennsylvania High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Nov. 25
The Pennsylvania high school football is just one step away from the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championships as teams prepare for this weekend’s semifinal matchups.
La Salle College remained their dominant selves after a 49-7 rout of Easton Area in the second round of the PIAA postseason. Which other Pennsylvania high school football teams make the list in our latest set of Top 25 rankings as the postseason heads into the state semifinal round of the playoffs around the Keystone State?
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest Pennsylvania high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 25.
1. La Salle College Explorers (11-1)
The La Salle College Explorers (11-1) kept the good times rolling through the PIAA Class 6A postseason as the easily cruised past Easton Area in a 49-7 win.
The Explorers have effectively avenged a 2024 Class 6A state championship loss to St. Joseph’s Prep School by defeating the Hawks, 24-14, ending their 2025 season.
Senior quarterback Gavin Sidwar, a Missouri commit, through the first 10 games of the season before the playoffs has completed 166 of 234 (71 percent) passes for 2,399 yards, 29 touchdowns and just five picks.
Next up for the Explorers is a state semifinal tilt against North Penn (12-2) at Central Bucks South on Saturday afternoon, with the winner advancing to the 6A state championship game.
2. Central Catholic Vikings (13-1)
Make it thirteen-straight victories for Central Catholic, with the team rolling to a 42-21 win over
State College Area in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs. The Vikings (13-1) have been one of the state’s hottest teams as they’ve now won thirteen consecutive wins since losing to La Salle College at the beginning of the season.
Vikings’ sophomore quarterback Owen Herrick, who completed 137 of 243 passes for 2,228 yards and 19 touchdowns. Another player that has had a strong season for Central Catholic is junior running back Roman Thompson, who has rushed for 808 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Next up for Central Catholic in the postseason is a matchup with No. 5 Harrisburg Saturday night at Mansion Park in Altoona.
3. Peters Township Indians (13-0)
The Peters Township Indians (13-0) continued on their momentum from the regular season right into the PIAA Class 5A postseason as they are undefeated and averaging 33.5 points per game on offense as they’re coming off a thrilling 20-19 victory over a very good Pine-Richland group.
The Indians feature multiple Division I recruits on the team, including seniors Reston Lehman (Pittsburgh commit) and Lucas Shanafelt (Stanford commit).
Peters Township started the 5A playoffs with No. 10 ranked Upper Saint Clair (9-3), winning 31-6 in the opening round before the Pine-Richland victory. Now the Indians will take on Bishop McDevitt this weekend for the chance to play for the 5A state championship.
4. St. Joseph’s Prep School Hawks (5-5)
The St. Joseph’s Prep School Hawks won’t be repeating as Class 6A state champions as their season ended at the hands of La Salle College, 24-14.

Playing a national schedule certainly has impacted the overall win/loss record for the team, but make no mistake that this is still one of Pennsylvania’s top high school football teams.
St. Joseph’s Prep (5-5) won the Class 6A state championship last year, but won’t get a chance to repeat.
5. Harrisburg Cougars (13-0)
Rounding out the Pennsylvania Top 5 of the rankings is Harrisburg Cougars (13-0), which is coming off another impressive 38-10 win over Central York in the second round of the 6A playoffs.
The Cougars’ offense has been bolstered by the return of senior four-star running back Messiah Mickens, who rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over Central York last week.
Next up for Harrisburg is a third round showdown round showdown with Central Catholic Saturday night at Mansion Park in Altoona.
