Police arrest Mississippi high school football coach, seize 13 pounds of marijuana

According to a Clarion Ledger report, Murrah High School (MS) assistant football coach Robert Tyreke Landers was arrested on Monday on charges of alleged drug trafficking on Nov. 10, per a Rankin County Sheriff’s Office press release that was put out on Tuesday.
“We will continue to work with and cooperate with all our law enforcement partners to reduce the availability of drugs not only in Rankin County but the Metro Area. Our continued goal is to have a safe secure community in which we can all live, raise our families and retire,” Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said via the press release.
Landers, who according to the school’s website, is also a health teacher and the team’s defensive coordinator, was arrested by Rankin County authorities after the Murrah coach’s home was searched and found was 13 one-pound bags of marijuana and seven pounds of methamphetamine, per the press release.
“While this arrest did not occur on a school campus and is not directly connected to Jackson Public Schools, we recognize the seriousness of the allegations and are unable to comment further at this time,” Jackson Public Schools Executive Director of Public Engagement Sherwin Johnson said via the Clarion Ledger report.
