Prediction: Bishop Gorman (Nev.) endures difficult slate to NIAA title

The 2025 high school football season will be getting underway in less than six weeks, which means it’s officially preview season. Rivals is breaking down the nation’s top teams from coast-to-coast, and today we make our way out west to Nevada where the Bishop Gorman has its sights set on contending for the mythical national championship. To do so, the Gales will have to get through a 2025 regular season schedule that includes East St. Louis (Ill.), Mater Dei (Calif.), Lone Peak (Utah) and Kahuku (Hawaii). Can the Gaels run the table en route to an undefeated season?
Player Spotlight: S Jett Washington
When you’re the nephew of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, aka the Black Mamba, you face some pretty high expectations. Jett Washington, a five-star safety, has already committed to Dan Lanning‘s Oregon Ducks and heads into his senior campaign eyeing a final hurrah as a Gael. Last season, Washington tallied 38 total tackles and intercepted five passes from his safety position, making him a player teams will want to avoid throwing towards this fall. Leading a very talented Gorman secondary, expect a strong 2025 season from Washington.
Others to watch: CB Hayden Stepp, EDGE Prince Williams, RB Terrance Grant, QB Maika Eugenio, WR Isaiah Nickels, WR Kaina Watson, LB Tamatoa Gaoteote
Season Prediction: 7-3
Now when it comes down to forecasting what Bishop Gorman does in Nevada’s NIAA Class 5A classification, we have little to no doubts that the Gaels will win another state championship. That part, we feel pretty confident in predicting. Now for the tougher prediction on will Bishop Gorman come out of the 2025 regular season unscathed and undefeated. We don’t see that happening. It’s just too tough of a schedule to say confidently that the Gaels will not have a loss on the slate. Losses will come against Mater Dei, Lone Peak and East St. Louis. Yes, three, count ’em, three losses for Bishop Gorman. That doesn’t mean they won’t steamroll everyone in Nevada en route to another state championship. It just means we don’t see them winning a national crown.
Game-By-Game Predictions
Aug. 22 – at Centennial (Nev.) Bulldogs – W
Bishop Gorman opens the season up with a 49-6 rout of Centennial on the road.
Aug. 31 – at Kahuku (Hawaii) Red Raiders – W
Heading across the Pacific Ocean to face the Red Raiders, the Gaels return home with a 36-14 victory.
Sept. 5 – Lone Peak (Utah) Knights – L
Surprising that Bishop Gorman loses here, but Lone Peak comes into Vegas and hands the Gaels a loss.
Sept. 12 – East St. Louis (Ill.) Flyers – L
Another national power waltzes into Fertitta Field and comes away with a win over Gorman. Gaels at 2-2 sounds weird. Probably even weirder to read.

Sept. 19 – Mater Dei (Calif.) Monarchs – L
Only thing crazier than the Gaels losing two in a row is seeing them lose three straight. Under the .500 mark seems unfeasible, right?

Bishop Gorman finally gets back into the win column when they visit Carson Palmer’s Eagles.
Oct. 3 – Palo Verde (Nev.) Panthers – W
The Gaels win consecutive games as they roll to a 44-0 rout of the Panthers.
Oct. 10 – Mojave (Nev.) Rattlers – W
Last home game of the season ends with a blowout of the Rattlers.
Oct. 17 – at Somerset Academy Losee (Nev.) Lions – W
Make it four straight victories for the Gaels as the cruise to another victory. Can they close it out with five wins in a row?
Oct. 24 – at Shadow Ridge (Nev.) Mustangs – W
Gorman finish the season with a five-game winning streak with a big win over Shadow Ridge.
